for me this is definitely what's happening they were progressively good up until CoD 4 and now it's declining, their standards are dropping and i think that the end is nigh for the CoD series.

I'm pretty sure this was established long ago. Activision announced that they want to make a new COD every year.

CoD4 was the best one by far, since then its been a downward slope, black ops especially is :|
As Yahtzee mentions its too fast paced in a way you don't get a second to blink hardly most of the time.

Replace CoD4 with Guitar Hero 3 ... Activision has this very bad habit ...

What charm and creativity? (hurrhurr)

Seriously though, I've never been one for CoD until Black Ops and that was just okay to me.
4 was massively overrated and I didn't get the appeal.
Though, I suppose they're improving since I quite enjoy Black Ops' multiplayer.

while it does repeat itself a lot, it's not quite at the point where people are going to stop buying it.

give or take a few more games there going to hit that wall.

EDIT: spelling and grammar

I think they need to put more effort into the single player campaign. Multiplayers are good but they seem to just be tacking on an embarrassingly short single player as an afterthought and it's really putting me off buying them

I started playing them at 4. I really enjoy the single player, so no.
However, I can see how people who have been playing multiplayer since 4 think it's getting stale.
But I've only started playing online in Black Ops.

Am I the only one who thinks Black Ops had a decent campaign and multiplayer compared to past titles except CoD 4?

Nuketown + wager matches = fun!

Did it have any to begin with?

No really I never did get the appeal of them, not even from the first one before all this fanboy nonsense.

The idea that such an average game could get so popular over other more innovative games fills me with such disgust and rage that...
Let's just say I don't see the appeal and leave it at that.

I'd disagree.
Working backwards, I liked Black Ops' campaign and multiplayer. The story was something different and the online's... I dunno, fun.

I liked Modern Warfare 2's online too. Yes, it was horrifically unbalanced and generally broken, but that meant I was so astoundingly bad it was one of the few games nowadays I don't care if I win or lose, I just enjoy the ride. From behind my riot shield.
Don't particularly remember the campaign since I originally rented it before buying it so rushed through it for the achievements.

Modern Warfare's online seemed kinda dull to me. Yeah, it was balanced and probably overall better, but I just never enjoyed myself as much.
Campaign has the same problem as Modern Warfare 2's. I achievement-whore'd it.

I should really play those campaigns again...

I never liked Call of Duty so my opinion on this is kind of invalid, but nothing will stop people from buying it.

Although, it only seems to get people angry, if my friends are at all representative. Everyone I talk to whilst they're playing Call of Duty ends up yelling and complaining about "bullshit".

yes, that is true but there are only so many games you can do about pretending to play a guitar...

To be honest, who gives a crap? I don't enjoy CoD for it's creativity, I play it because the gameplay is so damn good. The charm comes from enjoying a good gunfight.

Call Of Duty had creativity to begin with? I remember it being part of the guys who started Medal Of Honor getting the pink slip, or something.
