Multiplayer-wise? Very Yes.
Fun as Black Ops was, I prestiged and just lost interest...
I'm pretty damn good, but it's just not fun. For no reason other than I've played it all before.

Campaign wise?
A little. Gameplay is always a bit same-y, but Black Ops played well enough with the new guns, and, for me, the gun noises (I love it that they actually sound like they're shooting bullets. Rather than MW2's BB guns.), and also new gameplay like the Helicopter.
Story, setting, and all that wise?
No. Setting, maybe, story-wise, no.
I can easily see MW2's current world shifting into a World-War 3 style one, what with the rest of NATO and Asia joining in the fight. I'd love to see some all-out warfare, but with Modern weapons.
I also think Black Ops' story is worth another two games, and I trust Treyarch will make them better than Black Ops.
If they focus more on SP, and keep MP as is other than a few new things like weapons, Killstreaks, perks, the usual shit, I'll be happy.
Hell, I'm only really playing Black Ops now because Capaign and Zombies are so fucking epic.
I am sorry I have to disagree heavily on the gun sounds. Those were awful in BO to me. They really stank up the place and broke immersion for me. The only thing that comes close to crappiness of the gun sounds in BO is the mini gun on the helicopter in BF:BC2 which sounds like an angry nest of bees.

that has indeed been the state of affairs as far as i can see for the call of duty franchise, sure its on a downward spiral into the shitter and the only reason most people buy now is exact opposite reason why it was good in the first place, multiplayer, but as long as people lull themselves into a state of mind where these games are still good, it will still be an industry juggernaut.

Creativity?

Call of Duty never had it. They did good fps up until COD4 after that they went down hill fast.

Sorry, I kind of liked MW2.
But Black Ops was definitely a letdown for me.
I really hope the next COD game changes the formula the way COD 4 did, but I can hardly see that happening, sadly.

Ever since World at War I think the game has gone down a steady incline. World at War was my favourite because it was slower and you had time to think. If they slowed down the multiplayer and made longer campaigns they would sell far more copies IMO. The only thing I really liked about Black Ops was the Wager Matches which are very fun.

No. They lost it after CoD4, so it's impossible for them to still be losing their charm and creativity.
