Treyarch started it. Activision is currently wailing on a dead horse. Infinity ward put that horse out of it's misery with modern warfare 2 in my mind.

Am I the only one who thinks Black Ops had a decent campaign
Yes, compared to CoD 2 and 4 especially. The campaign was really pretty shit, it seemed to pander to people who went to see Motorcycle-Jump-Shotgun-Face-Explosion 4 at the movie theater, it has little actual story, no relatable charecters, was kind of predictable, and had almost no new features.

Don't get me wrong though, it was pretty fun if you didn't take it seriously, games that are shit can still be buckets of fun, I had lots of fun with Alpha Protocol and that games is shit to shit what shit is to good.
Alpha Protocol: One of my all time favorite "B-movie" games. It's so bad, yet somehow remains enjoyable.
We love it because it sucks.

The fact that you're asking this question OP belies your small amount of time spent on these forums. We get people asking this weekly. The answer is yes, of course their creativity is slipping. They re-release the same game every year with minor improvements. Is it losing it's charm though? I would say not, otherwise nobody would be playing it.

Multiplayer-wise? Very Yes.
Fun as Black Ops was, I prestiged and just lost interest...
I'm pretty damn good, but it's just not fun. For no reason other than I've played it all before.

Campaign wise?
A little. Gameplay is always a bit same-y, but Black Ops played well enough with the new guns, and, for me, the gun noises (I love it that they actually sound like they're shooting bullets. Rather than MW2's BB guns.), and also new gameplay like the Helicopter.
Story, setting, and all that wise?
No. Setting, maybe, story-wise, no.
I can easily see MW2's current world shifting into a World-War 3 style one, what with the rest of NATO and Asia joining in the fight. I'd love to see some all-out warfare, but with Modern weapons.
I also think Black Ops' story is worth another two games, and I trust Treyarch will make them better than Black Ops.
If they focus more on SP, and keep MP as is other than a few new things like weapons, Killstreaks, perks, the usual shit, I'll be happy.
Hell, I'm only really playing Black Ops now because Capaign and Zombies are so fucking epic.

There are 3 options for a new decent COD game, in order of awesomeness.

Call of duty: space marine warfare-nuff said.
Call of duty: remastered- a final game for the series, it would take place in WW2 like the originals, but with better graphics.
Call of duty: MW3...MW2 was, apparently, pretty good. I like MW2, though I sort of have a love-hate relationship with it. MW3 needs to live up to the original MW's quality.

Personlly, I think cod went downhill at the point of MW2. COD 5/COD WAW was a seriously underrated game.

Nuketown + wager matches = fun!
I don't know why you've thrown nuketown in there, all wager match maps are heavily restricted in size to keep the action fast paced.

What charm and creativity? To me, CoD never had much, if any, to begin with. Only good part is zombies. And that's starting to wear thin for me too.
Infinity Ward seemed to enjoy doing mini-campaigns in their story. CoD I & II featured three different fronts and moved on before you got bored with it. CoD 4 utilized a similar structure within an actual narrative: Brits, Yanks, Brits Save The Day. Infinity Ward was really good at those mini set-pieces.

for me this is definitely what's happening they were progressively good up until CoD 4 and now it's declining, their standards are dropping and i think that the end is nigh for the CoD series.
Black Ops made six hundred and fifty million dollars in five days. Oh yeah, I see that you mean: it's practically a dead franchise.

I'd say so, which is a shame because I love COD 2, 4, and WAW. But I'm never picking up a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare anything ever again. And after Black Ops... Ugh. That game practically gave me a migraine.

I think the CoD series needs to change up the core gameplay a bit. Maybe make it a bit more like Socom/Killzone or Red Orchestra.

Why is this thread's title in the present progressive and not the past imperfect?

Not Really,But talking bout Call of duty reminds me of this.If you think CoD is losing it's Fun,then wait until 2012 Respawn entertainment (Vince zampella and Kayne west's new company) are making a call of duty "killer" ,supposedly going to be EPIC,

If you want to Watch Vid,,Search "Call of duty Killer! Activation sues EA"
