Is Dark Souls glitched

After ringing the first bell a odd man in a cloak lets me talk to him and there is an option about sinning still not really understanding after some time later i stabbed a person who looked like a zombie he/she was standing behind some bars that i though was a gate and was about to be attacked so i attacked first. Turns out it was a friendly and now all he/she does is yell abuse at me. So here is what i think is the glitch i talk to the cloak guy about sinning after stabbing the person and i have to pay 46000 souls WTF did a glitch 10x the amount or is the game that big an asshole

Technically you were the attacker and thus "asshole." But no, the game is not glitched, that's how much it takes to redeem your sin. Also you have to attack TWICE to get aggro from an NPC. There are two soul farming techniques I know of, use those if you want. Otherwise just continue on. Eventually 46000 souls really isn't that significant.

Yep that's the price my advice is place a summon sign at a few bosses and you should be able to farm the souls the fun way.

Also If you haven't gone to the deaths yet attack the frogs as soon as you see them if they cure you you die instantly and have half health to you lift the curse.
