I plan on getting this on Steam when its gonna be on sale. This remaster has went through controversy but I am interested in it because of a few things.

1. The biggest one is rebindable controls for controllers like an Xbox 360 one. I have tried the original game on Steam before through library sharing and the game does not have the option to rebind the buttons of a 360 controller and I heard that the remaster actually does.

2. I don't wanna waste time adding that DSFix mod to fix the framerate because there are times I uninstall my PC games for space.

I forgot why was this remaster so upsetting though so whats the beef? But so far I am under the impression that its nothing that concerns me personally.

I believe the main reason for the controversy was that it's main selling points were things that should have been in the original PC version, specifically high resolution support, 60fps and keyboard/mouse support.

I had a great time with DS: Remastered, though I haven't played the original version so I'm not sure how much of an upgrade it was.

What I can say, though, was that no external fix was necessary for the framerate. The framerate was good throughout.

The beef is indeed not something that should concern you personally.

It's a solid game, have fun with it.

It's totally worth it if you've never played the game before.

If you like Souls games you've played in the past, then yes, it's worth getting. The game itself is the same, but the engine has been updated for modern hardware and should offer better performance (no more Blight Town craziness). Further, it incorporates the password matchmaking from DS3 so coop will be a cinch and it inevitably has a larger community than the original.

If you wanted to play the original Dark Souls, online or offline, the Remastered version is the way to do it. You can always wait for a sale if the asking price for an old game you've already bought is too high, which for many it is.

I still maintain DS1 is the weakest of From Software games, remastered or otherwise. Also from what I've read they don't actually fix any of the bugs, glitches or poor game design choices, they just upped the FPS and the graphics.
