It's... Unique

I like the way the main character addresses the player directly (isn't that right Zach?) but some gameplay features will make you want to punch a chicken...

You can get it dirt cheap now anyway so go for it!

It's the best worst game. I mean that with no sense of irony. It is legitimately great. AWKWARD, but great.

Nowhere else do you play as an FBI Agent who talks to his imaginary friend Zach and thinks he sees the future in his coffee. The characters are so enjoyable to watch, so delightfully BATSHIT CRAZY and full of surprises that you just have to enjoy it no matter how terrible the controls are.

The problem being that it's not a survival horror game. It's more like a perfectly normal mystery/adventure game that survival horror elements just wandered into one day. The monsters aren't meant to be scary so much as pathetic, and it's meant to be a metaphor more than something you take literally.

Well, I loved it myself. I cannot speak for everyone else though. There are some things you should know about it though: It is a deeply flawed game. It has a lot of unique ideas, but many do not work out that well. The minute to minute gameplay is very mediocre and the graphics are the worst I have seen this generation. The sound effects are very strange and do not sound right either. If that does not turn you off, you will experience of the most unique games to emerge this generation. It has one of the best and most unique stories of any game currently available on the market, it has some great music and good voice-acting, and it is littered with unforgettable characters, moments, and plot-twists. It is a very "love it or hate it" type of game, like killer7. I say get it, if for nothing else than the sheer uniqueness of it.

I haven't got very far into the game (I really should get back to playing it) but the thing I loved the most was the hilariously inappropriate soundtrack.

Also, the cutscene with the main character eating food with the owner of the hotel he is staying at had me in stitches.

Like I mentioned before not too long ago in another thread, Deadly Premonition is easily one of the best games I have played in the last decade. If you can appreciate a game beyond just the surface value and look at it introspectively and be patient to listen to the narrative as opposed to have to feel obligated to shoot everything every five seconds, you will enjoy it. Deadly Premonition is, IMO the quintessential cult-classic game.

The guys over at GiantBomb did a Let's Play (they call them Endurance Runs) of Deadly Premonition, if you want to check out some gameplay.

There are quite a few videos in the series, since this is quite a big game, so click around and see what you find.

Here's the first video:

Sorry about this being a "low content post", but... well, I haven't played the game at all. Or watched this Let's Play, actually... so, uh, hope this helps?

The only one of my friends that played it, liked it.

I told him to play it because his name is Zac, and if you've played Deadly Premonition, you'll know why it's important for anybody named Zac(h) to play it as well.

It is a great game, so says Mr. Stewart. It is hilarious, so says Mr. Stewart.
Yes, get it.

EDIT: Think: So bad, it is good.
