Is Doom 2016 has best FPS level design since Half life or even 90s old shooters?

In relation to my "aggressiveness" lemme sum it up like this... B-Cell consistently makes topics like these for validation of his own thoughts and refuses to take in info from others. I call him out because, while I don't always word it the best, my hopes and intentions are to spark B-Cell into improving his post and topic quality by pointing out the flaws in the discussion. I join in on the fun of joking about "badassery and manliness" that B-Cell clings to so strongly cause it's the only form of entertainment there is in these repeated threads. I don't call always him out in the best way, and I admit that.

He's built the same reputation here as he did in GT (as mentioned by previous GT forum users) And here, that sort of quality is not well regarded or accepted by many (as evidenced by some of the responses in this very thread). The hope is that he'll improve and shed that reputation away, and become a well regarded poster and forum user. It's a fools dream, but that's all I want out of it all. He keeps saying "My friends" and I see few people agreeing to that. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all say that towards him?

What I can say? I don't mind so much the way he express his love for some games. True, he insult other people who love specific games, but this is his opinion. He don't like Painkiller, which btw I believe is a better game from the recent Doom, but I won't start by instict by seeing a B-Cell thread to get ready to "break him".
Btw yes, I think ones I get angry by him, but only in one thread, not because he created just another bsimilar thread.

You don't mind how he spams the same inconsistent 'opinions,' condescends anyone who disagrees, provides no real evidence to back any claims, and frequently bashes things he obviously hasn't played, or played for very long? You like how he takes images out of context to make 'a point?' How he can't be bothered to even look up who made Painkiller before shitting on them? The way he ignores any criticism that he can't sidestep by calling someone a 'friend' or 'buddy?' Or the fact that the majority of his threads are based on bullshit (Doom 2016's greatest achievement isn't that it has 'good' level design, but that it can trick you into thinking it does. That sounds bad, but it's actually a pretty neat trick)?

Granted, I can completely understand all that not bothering you. What I can't understand is all that not bothering you, yet someone rallying against all that does.

This thread title seriously needs an edit...I can't bear to bring my eyes upon it without a necessary part of my brain curling up to die as it consumes itself in horror.

Doom was kind of aesthetically boring, the enemy varieties were stretched over far too many repetitive encounters and there were still bullet sponge enemies. It's good, but not great. A heated bit of fun, but pretty boring level design, colour palette and didn't feel anywhere near as cathartic as shadow warrior. Hell as well is incredibly uninspiring and boring. Some tropes work, depending on how they're implemented, but the hell idea can be something of pure horror, yet it always turns into 80s metal album covers...come onnnn...we know there are real horrors out there...not this predictable bullshit. I think they are both flawed but I had much more fun and intrigue with Shadow Warrior. Now, what level of troll are these threads? I honestly have no idea anymore. The two possibilities are incredibly extreme in contrast.

Mostly overexposure. People get tired after a while of that one person who tells them over and over that they are enjoying their games too much (just because he dislikes those games). They develop a knee-jerk reaction with some time.

Well, it's good to see I can still spot a B-Cell thread a mile away.

OT: I can't tell. I'm not a big fan of FPS since when CoD became the most imitated game of the year, and I have Doom in my backlog (Steam sale FTW). Right now I'm busy checking the level design of Dark Souls II.

Linear doesn't ALWAYS mean bad, it just depends on how the linear map design is used. But I love rail-shooters so eh.

Doom 2016 was still pretty amazing, though

Level design was okay. Nothing was really that memorable about it, though, that is probably mostly because all of the environments looked mostly the same, aside from the obvious Mars -> Hell transition. Doom does room to room combat really well, and whilst the whole locking you into an arena thing worked well for the game, it did be come obvious that was what the game was relying on, most of the time.

Honestly, I just prefer a liner game. Don't get me wrong, there are some pretty shitty linear games, where you need to wait for your AI hand-holder to open the door to the next area, but I would much rather take anything from Halo over Doom, any day.
