It's terrible. It starts off alright, even kind of funny, but the "Hive" level is pretty much the turning point and after that it's complete and utter shit.

I haven't finished it, mind you, because I can only take so much of it for a day.

Hit detection - bad, controls - stiff and floaty at the same time, how do you even do that, it has first person platforming and boss QTEs that, if you fail, give the bosses a third of their health back.

The boss battles are a joke, the turret sections are "wut", the driving is kinda fun but needing to boost turns the controls into dogshit. I could see why people defend it, but I myself wouldn't. I hate it.

No. People are looking at DNF the wrong way. It wasnt meant to be a great game, it was meant to be a tribute to what gaming used to be, as well as a revivial of an old project.

The whole '13 years of hype' thing isnt really an excuse to not like it. It hasnt been in production for 13 years, it has been a project which has been picked up and dropped on various occassions. Realistically, it has only been in production for a few years (if that). Its more of a frankenstein of different peoples work all.

And the cheesy humour 'designed for 12 year olds' is kinda lame. Yeah it would have been something that i would have found hilarious when i was 12, but it still brought a smile to my face among playing it as it was fairly nostaligic. Moreso because Duke Nukem always had that silly humour, and thats why we loved it.

Love it for what it is, not what it isnt. (and i dont mean love it for being repetitive, thrown together and cheesy).
