No, it's the kind of sport that a single father with an 11 year old son will visit in the rain.

They usually take visits to harbours to see old ships when they're not busy in the loft building things out of Lego or gluing a model plane together. The kid has no friends and he has blond hair, the dad is balding and he works in a fruit machine factory. The mother died/left very early on, the dad only has his son left in his life.

...

That was an accurate description, right? This was what it was like in 1998.

It's not a redneck sport I suppose. In sweden it's not very popular however, or that is, as far as I know. You see it regularly on the T.V but no one actually seem to watch it.
Yeah our country is full of technophobic ballkicking retards with no brains.

It's not white-trash NASCAR. Soccer and Icehockey are our white-trash sports.

No, not at all. If anything, football is, but that has too large a fanbase to be exclusively moronic. Although, they like football, so you never know...

EDIT: Chav, got it, thanks to the many who replied to me.
A chav is not a redneck...

A chav is a bro...

Rugby union is the real gentleman's contact sport, with rucks and mauls resulting after tackles. It's also the one you hear about when you hear about international rugby on the news.
To quote an old guy from my old club:

"Union is where you'll see Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers and Associate Professors at their most violent and vicious... outside of a professional conference, anyway."

Anyway, I don't think so. There aren't many fans where I live.

Oh dear Lord, what a necro...
This thread has been dead for 2 years, did you really have to resurrect it?
Great, now someone get the holy water please, I shall get the bible and the stone salt.

In Finland it's not
There's a saying in Finland that goes something like "working out smells like sweat, sport smells like gasoline"
Many people in Finland follow formula no matter what kind of guy/gal you are
I don't but many do
So from Finland as a whole I'd have to say no

No, I'd actually say F1 is one of the most upmarket sports. Also it's a worldwide sport, not solely European although it is dominated by European drivers.

Proper Football (Soccer,) is the equivilent of what you're looking for, specifically English football.
huh?? I agree that you get a lot of hooligans in football (although there are many intelligent fans as well) but why English football specifically? If anything English football is one of the best in terms of the fans. There's so much racism elsewhere, especially in Eastern Europe and Italy.

edit: just realised how old this thread is

Actually, there is a nascar series in Europe called euro racecar. The difference is that nobody has never heard of it, I only found out about it during the last Race of Champions.

I always thought that if you were gonna call any (English) pundits redneck-equivalents it'd be the ones who watch Darts.

Also Football (as is said of Football and Rugby - The former is a gent's game played by thugs and the latter's a thug's game played by gents)

Guys, GUYS, let it go. The thread is close to being a two and a half years old corpse. It doesn't care about what you think - the flesh has already rotted off it, so it doesn't have ears to listen to you.

It's not really considered a red neck sport here, unlike Nascar. Given the amount of technical knowledge and engineering work that goes into Formula. I mean that as no disrespect to Nascar (tbh I know very little of it), just that Nascar seems like a more accessible motor sport compared to F1. At least from my observations it seems a group of mechanics with enough know how could put together a car to compete in Nascar, where you would need several millions to fund a barely passable F1 team.

I personally enjoy watching F1, well at least until it becomes obvious who is going to win and I can't route for the underdog anymore. So depending on the season my interest in F1 lasts for about 4-9 races :p

well in England it depends on where your closer to scottland or dover on who you insult
Is the term redneck used? My ignorance led me to believe it was an American term not used by others.
no we don't use the term "redneck" the closest term we use varies from county to county. but the most common one is chav
The Closes thing to a Redneck in Europe is a Traveler, Gypsies, Pikey, whatever you want to call them.

Chav is similar to the American Jock, only the subculture takes cues from British Grime, and UK Garage music.

Edit: O.O ...The message is three years old, god damn you necrophiliacs.
