As the title says, Is wondering if Gamefly is worth the cost? I often finish games quickly but not quickly enough to return the game for my money back, so Gamefly seems to be a good way to save money.

No. The idea is good, but it takes about a week (no shit) to say that they've recieved your game. Then about 2 days to get your game. Ive tried using them twice. Once when i had a PS2a few years back, once just a few weeks ago. Their shipping is fucked up. Worst part is, the shipping center is in texas, and I live in new mexico. Plus they cant seem to keep more than 5 copies of games in at a time, as you will always see "Very long wait" on any recent release game. For your own good, don't use gamefly.

I've been using GameFly for 2 years now, and it works great for me. Keep in mind that I live in a rural town, and having a decent video game rental store isn't exactly a priority here. It's especially good for hard-to-find games and portable games, since it's usually the only way to get ahold of DS/PSP games without pirating or flat-out buying it. It might take them a while to pick up/send new games (it's a bit inconsistent as to when exactly they get them), but overall it's worth it if you play through games quickly and don't have the money to buy everything that comes out.

Also, their deals on used games are insane, especially when you have special coupons saved up.

Pretty good for me, shipping is pretty fast and they usually have the games I want in stock. If you've got a lengthy list of games you'd like to play but don't want to really buy any of them, it's a good service. Just make sure you get at least 2 or 3 games a month, otherwise it's not really worth it.

yeah if you play a lot of games I'd say it's worth it as long as you pony up for having 2 games out at a time, just play one game through then send it back and play the other game while you wait for your next one to come. not too hard to get your money's worth.

If you don't play a ton of games then don't obviously, because it's hard to get your money's worth, I would recommend getting the 2 games at a time deal rather than a single game, it's more expensive but you won't sit around not having a game for a week, because regardless of where you are the postal system isn't the fastest thing around.

I personally don't play console games anymore really so I would never do it, but if you're a console gamer go nuts

I never used them but if the shipping is that bad I'd say it's a pass. I usually get things used off Amazon within like 40 hours of the purchase, and Netflix usually is a 48 hour return rate for me :/

I use it currently, and I love it. As long as you can cycle about 3+ games a month, it's not a bad set up. Depending on where you live and your proximity to the shipping center, it's about a two day downtime between game-in/game-out. I really like the service, though.

Has anyone had the problem of the games being scratched? I'm just curious, cause I was thinking about getting it someday.
I haven't had any issues with scratched discs. I hear they have a pretty solid policy with those, in that they throw out damaged discs/cartridges and replace them with new ones. Maybe not with older games, but they definitely will for new games.

Pretty good service, I think. There are always games I want to play, but do not want to buy so I ust activate my gamefly every few months and grind em out.

I use a similar service with BlockBuster. 2 games unlimited for 40 bucks a month. No shipping and all that jazz. Just go to the store with the old game and leave with another. Best investment I made in my gaming life. I can afford things like food now

I had Gamefly for a little over a year, and it's just... alright.

They have a very wide selection of games, but the quantity is terrible. If a game came out in the last three months or so, don't expect to get it any time soon, even if it's first on your list. And some weird problem happened once, I received #24 on my list, GRID for the DS. I have no clue how it happened, it had low availability, the games higher had very high availability, etc.

The shipping times are crap for me, as it'd take around 7-10 days to get a game after I send the last one in. When there's a shipping center in the same state as me, I'd expect it to be just a littlefaster.

If you can bear playing less popular games, and long shipping times, go for it. But if you're impatient like me, don't bother.

It's ok. The shipping is kinda fucked. I live in MI and the PA center gets to me in three days. I've still been waiting for Alan Wake at the top of my list since three weeks ago. I'd say get it but don't expect to get Naughty Bear for a long time. :(

Don't bother with it. Takes to long and unless you're looking for older games you won't get what you want anyway.

No, it took almost a month for a game to reach me here in Hawaii. Then when I'd send games back they'd tell me I stole them and canceled my account after less then three games. So either they're lieing cunts, or the mail person stole them because I sure as hell didn't want their shitty scratched up copies.
I'd put my money on the mail person, there was a big story about a mail guy doing that sort of thing not too long ago. The big ***** in Gamefly's armor is that their distribution tends to suck depending on where you live. I've had them for maybe three years now and the wait time has gotten better, but I have noticed that you have to make sure to put the games you want in your queue early to have the best chance of getting them in a reasonable amount of time. You also have to make sure to free up your slots before the new item becomes available so that you have a better chance of getting first dibs on whatever new release is coming up.

Despite all the inconvenience and relative expense (They know they can get away with robbing you blind on the membership pricing because they are the biggest, and most well stocked game in town.)I take advantage of the discounts I get on games to save some money on a rental I like enough to own.

I wouldn't because despite how neglectful they can be, I've never had anything stolen before and I've ordered some pretty tempting things such as popular games and whatnot from other online sources that very blatantly said what game was within.
I've had a package "disappear" on me before. I really do wish Amazon wasn't in the habit of marking their shipping boxes with Amazon on them. I feel like they make the items they ship even bigger targets that way.

@Flying-emu: You sir have just made my early morning.
