I played the demo the other day and it seemed pretty fun. That doesn't necessarily tell you what the entire game's like though so I'm just wondering; is it any good? And is it worth the £40/$60 price tag? It seems a bit steep to me.

nothing is going to be as legendary as the original. Nothing will hold up to that expectation.

If it get's the multiplayer right and there are actual people playing for more then a month with MW3 out ill be happy.

Don't own a wii. I'd be getting the Xbox version if I got it.

I played it on the Wii. It is loads of fun, and the little references in the beginning of the game to the N64 version are just awesome. Online play is pretty sweet, too

From the Wii version, let me explain my two cents

Campaign: essentially just CoD-meets-Bond. Similar levels, similar guns, sometimes even similar set pieces. But it has a lot of the Bond aspect. Stealth is incredibly annoying, and by the end the normal gameplay starts to drag a bit. Still, pretty fun, and replayable.

Multiplayer: actually pretty bad. First problem is with split-screen, you cannot make your own customized classes, just the preset classes.

Regular multiplayer is heavily CoD influenced. Start with pretty much nothing, level up by killing people and doing objectives to get more guns, etc. It wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for the fact that the multiplayer is so annoying, repetitive, and limited as all hell. Only 4 vs. 4 for each game mode. Yeah, 4 vs. 4. (However, this is very likely a Wii problem). Another probably-the-Wii problem is that there cannot be updates to it. Ever. Same game it was a year ago.

Overall: Worth maybe $30, the splitscreen is fun but was a few steps short of being perfect, the campaign is pretty good but repetitive, the multiplayer should be avoided.

I'm still a bit mystified at how legendary that game is, especially the multi-player. Single player gets props for expanding on the run-and-gun formula with optional stealth, escort missions, vehicle sections, and the last truly iconic weapon type added to the FPS arsenal with the sniper rifle; but videos of the its multiplayer look so dull and clunky next to Quake, a game released a year before. Don't bring a N64 controller to a gun fight.

As for the demo for the new game, I gave it a shot the other night. I was not impressed. There really seemed to be too many little cinematic touches to the action. Just seemed neither fish nor fowl to me, with neither the story nor the action sucking me in; like the rail shooter bit in the middle where you're only expected to shoot a handful of things. Am I watching a cutscene or playing a game? It doesn't feel like either.

It's pretty good. If you want the balls-twisting difficulty of the original, play the campaign on 007 Classic from the outset.

It was more the fact that everyone had an N64 and introduced the 4 way split screen. It was a great party game. And the single player, despite not having any audio dialog at all was surprisingly fun.
