The Killzone enemies look like a ripoff of the Combine soldiers mixed with "next-gen" grey. I think one should pass on this game.

Pretty much everyone is saying #2 is good though. They say the multiplayer especially has wings. The Gameplay is sort of like Call of Duty meets Gears of War.

I dont know about killzone 2, the graphics looks a amazing. But I remember my friends saying that halo was totally going to suck compared to killzone (1), when it would come out. I didnt need to say anything to them when the game shipped. Killzone is nothing like halo, its just that sony didnt have any major fps exclusives at the time halo was popular on the xbox. Fanboys thought that microsoft would have nothing if killzone would be better than halo.

beddo has some good points btw

This is a good piece, a decent length with fairly well argued points.

You really need to work on your spelling, grammar and punctuation, a few examples:
Thanks for the pointers.

Not exactly a pro at this, and didn't spend that long on the editing.
I will spend more time on this in the future.

I know you did a lot of work to make all those graphically-aided comparisons of the game to Halo, but here's a novel concept for you to think about. Did it actually occur to you that the game isn't trying to be Halo!?
Yes I did, that's why I explained how its not.

Character variations are much different. While one aspect of killzone was to have a large variation of troops, from what I see they are all fairly similar except for a few ?heavy? enemies, or drone-like opponents. This is a farcry from the many vastly different opponents in halo, with each having many different variations on them. So while Killzone opts for realism, it strays further away from Halo.
Halo has a variety of enemies now?
Grunt
Brute
Jackal
Occasional Brute Chieftain
2 hunter fights
and... that's about it. Unless you count the godawful flood levels.

While Killzone 2 may be a successful game, but to say that its a "Halo Killer" is irrelevant because they're on DIFFERENT PLATFORMS!
i dissagree, one game can kill another game's sales even if they are on different consoles, it just means that the other game would have to be unnaturally good. i dont know if this is a fair comparrison because the game was multi platform, but guitar hero 3 sales went down pretty drastically when rock band came out on almost every console but the wii.

The half-life series is the actual best line of FPSs, this game looks generic and boring, like the halo sequels, the first halo was OK I guess.
Haha, this post made me laugh so much. Half-Life series being the best line of FPSs? Nice one.

As for the thread, Kill Zone 2 will not be a Halo killer. Why do people bring up " killer!" all the time? Makes no sense.

Killzone won't even make Halo feel bad, let alone kill it. Even if Killzone 2 is a perfect 10 it will never unseat halo as the top console FPS. Even Gears is just holding Halo's seat till it gets back. I'm not being a fanboy, just stating the facts.
You win the epic phail post award.

Well you see, from what Ive witnessed the characters are just slight variations (weapons) of their similar skinned counterparts.
This is a very realistic approach to the game because in reality people don't very that greatly in size or shape.
Halo on the other hand has lots of different species who are each very different.

A list i was referring to was something more of
---------------------------------------------------

Jackal (have 2 variations)

elite (Elite minor, elite major, elite ultra, elite ranger, stealth elite, special operations elite, spec ops commander, zealot counselor)

brute (War Chieftain, Brute Chieftain,
Brute Captain, Ultra Brute, Captain Major, Brute Captain,
Brute Honor Guard, Brute Bodyguard, Honor Guard, Elite Ranger, Elite Brute, Stalker, Stealth Elite, Brute Ultra, Brute Major, Brute Minor)

grunt (grunt minor, grunt major, heavy grunt, spec-ops grunt, grunt ultra)

Drones

hunter

Flood spore

Combat Form(elite, human, brute)

Pure form(3 variations)

Carrier form

All of you statements are exactly the reason why Killzone 2 will not be a "Halo Killer". Nothing will "kill Halo" because god knows why Halo is infinetely more popular than most other things.

You can't really compare Halo 3 and Killzone 2 because they are both different styles of FPSs. Halo 3 is a more run n' gun kind of game whereas Killzone 2 is extremely tactical and grounded in realism to make you feel like a part of the battlefield.

I am excited for Killzone 2, though I've never played the original. I've heard good and bad things about it, but I don't get why people are judging the second one by the first. I get that some people are skeptical, but to say that "Killzone 1 sucked, why would I want another sucky Killzone?" is kind of stupid.

Most of your nit-picks of the game are mainly passable by the fact that Killzone 2 is trying to make it an extremely realistic game, so stuff like a gloop-gun is mainly out of the question unless it can be explained by the realms of PhYsIcS!

But your main point, Killzone being a "Call of Duty 4 killer", is valid. It looks much more like CoD4 than Halo.

Oy, I'm rambling. sorry.

Wow, that was really well presented. Call of Duty looks pretty similar too Killzone. I had to take a double take to realize those pictures were two different games.

It cannot be a Halo killer if it is on a separate platform. I am real sick of FPS, they should take a 10 year break.

Killzone came out 2 weeks before Half Life 2 - if anything, the Combine are ripoffs of the Helghan. Someone just failed hard.
And Half-Life 2 was in development first given how there wasn't even a mention of Killzone at E3 2003. Or apparently they put in the Combine last well after the game had gone gold and they looked at Killzone.

That person who failed hard by the way, was you.

Gas masks suits came out in 1849, so I'm pretty sure Mr.Haslett is the one crying here.
