Hitting anyone male or female is bad, I will however defend myself if someone hits me, once again, male or female.
This inequality sucks, men get abused by their wives all the time (Probably as much as women get abused by their husbands) but of course because society says a woman can't possibly hurt a man the guy won't report the abuse they're recieving since they expect to be mocked for it.

I would never hit a girl. Hell, I try to avoid any sort of interaction with them because all the girls I know are fucking annoying. But if one hit me on purpose, I'd hit back harder.
Wait a minute, surely in our cosmopolitan democratic bureaucratic society hitting anyone is bad regardless of age, sex or colour. So maybe you should al stop worrying about hitting girls and start worrying about why you are hitting anyone. i am no fan of the many rules i have to follow because i was born. now if you were married and beat your wife, that is different to slapping your sister. but maybe it matters less than the fact you should be able to control yourself a little better. But hey thats my ten cents worth, how about we stop making the shit a sex issue and open our mind to the wider promblem of the need for violence against those we should love.
I am against violence... most of the time... as a high school student I come across it every term or so (don't hang out with the 'cool' kiddies) and I have found that if I respond aggressively instead of my normal, passive self, they tend to leave me alone (though I'm 187cm and quite fit so that might be an influence). But in regards to hitting girls, unless my Life is actually threatened, then I would never hit them. What can I say, I'm a 'gentle'men. But that doesn't mean I would judge people for hitting a woman for the same reasons they would hit a guy... that may be worded badly, don't quote me on that.
Anyway, you shouldn't hit girls as (they can give you SECKS) you will receive a harsher punishment from teh courts as they are sexist.

I will hit a woman for the same reasons I would hit a man.
That being said, I won't hit a 5'4" 110 pound person with the same force as I would a 6'2" 250 pound person, but that goes without saying, really.

Don't be silly, this is a lovely cosmopolitan democratic bureaucratic society where everything that creates more bureaucracy is welcome and what could be more bureaucratic then extra paper work and some more media attention and a whole session of parliament devoted to when an act of violence involves people of the opposite sex.psychodynamica said:

My feeling is that of equality: If some girl decides to go for me, the first time, she gets a warning, the next time, she winds up on her head. I'm tired of seeing "equality so long as it suits me" when it comes to stuff like this. If you attack someone and don't stop despite attempts to talk it through, whether you are a guy or a girl, you SHOULD get dropped.
If a woman pisses me of I will hit her. I don't care if she is smaller or weaker (I'm 200 pounds woot) that's not an excuse.

The whole 'don't hit girls' thing is told just to keep men civilised. It doesn't work for those who don't care for morals. If you're sorry about and apologised for it, it will be okay. You've shown eachother your boundaries. That's a thing you both need to cope with.

A guy hitting a girl is cowardly and shameful. In self-defense, it's a different story but any other case, don't do it. Everyone has a right, indeed an imperative to defend themselves from being hurt. But a slap is not a serious threat and IMO isn't enough to justify walloping her back.
Hitting anyone without very good reason is wrong. Hitting anyone who hit you first with the intention of starting a fight is fine. That said I would be more lenient towards a girl, but more does not mean completely.
If she is your sister then its fine. Its what brothers and sisters do. Depends on the age difference as well...you dont hit kids, unless your a kid as well. Also if you are attacked, then you defend yourself at all times. Woman can hit just as hard. An we are talking punch and not a slap. Plus i have one rule, if you hit someone, then expect to be hit back. You cant go round hitting people and not expect a repricusion. Granted all situations are different and should be judged as such.

I believe that women should get no special treatment when it comes to this. If they do something that would normally make you hit a guy, then you should be able to hit a girl.

If someone is being aggressive to you, and to not retaliate would mean they would be a threat to your physical well-being, incapacitate them however you will, regardless of who they are. Try not to overdo it though.
If there was a woman, say... coming at me with a knife? I wouldn't hesitate to punch her out, if it was the quickest opening I had to end the situation. Equally, if I felt it was reasonable, I would just go for the knife and shove her down.
