Yes it's a legitimte answer, it means they like you for who you are, and everything that makes you, you.
When I like a person, it's not because they meet a number of requisite requirments, it's because I truly care for them as an individual.
It's just as real an answer as 'I like your personality' or 'I like spending time with you' neither articulates exactly what quality in their personality or company they like, but it doesn't invalidate the answer
Depends more on the conversation beforehand than it does on what is being said at the moment. Really, we're going to need more backstory before any of us can give a reasoned opionion or thought on the matter.
