I thought DiCaprio was great in it... I'm not really a fan of him and thought this film showed new standards. TBH I reckon Inception fully earnt it's hype. If nothing else just think about how original the story is, could you have thought of that before it came out? :p
I found the story very similar to shutter island... just putting that out there

Yes, just like The Dark Knight. See, people loved it because of those small little moments like the hall way fight scene. Then to make sure no one gets lost Nolan has the characters explain everything. It's his style, that's why TDK was full of philosophy talk. Incpetion was the same except now, it's an essay on sub-concious and dreaming. It's basic stuff hyped up because people don't know the subject their talking about.

I'd say it was overated, the effects were awesome but the story was fail. I think they thought up the premise and the effects and then tacked the story on afterwards. It's a good movie but not as good as people say it is.

Inception Was good. Just good. I understand that it was aimed at a wide audience. I just felt like the movie was holding my hand the entire way, making sure I never missed anything. It made rewatching it a bit dull. But I did feel like it lived up to the hype the FIRST time I watched it. Good movie. Not as good as The Prestige[
Prestige had the mystery element that inception lacked ... inception had the mind-fuck aspect that prestige lacked (if you ignored that they broke that bat over your head with it which is tough) ... and a wider array of "high-caliber" actors ... Gordon-Levitt is an amazing actor (Brick ... come on) and it also had higher-grade effects.

I've gotten to the point that dicaprio can't be taken seriously. If you link all of his movies he almost covers all of the last few hundred years in history.

Man in the Iron Mask
Gangs of New York
Quick and the dead
Titanic
Great Gatsby
Shutter Island
Catch me if you can
romeo and juliet
blood diamond
the departed
inception

some of them link better than others ... doesn't he wake up in cold water in shutter island ... shortly after the time period of titanic ... funny

I believe that the hype was over-hyped. And that we're over-hyping the hype about the over-hyping.

What do you think of that?

OT: I liked it. It was a really good movie in my opinion, but I don't really know how "hyped" it was. So I don't really know if it was "hyped" too much.
