I'm a 21 year old guy, and have always like late 70s type disco music. I mean, don't listen to it all the time, but i enjoy the music. I kinda wish that i was a young adult in the late 70s, so i could go into nightclubs with my white disco outfit, and a giant afro bounching up and down, left and right to the bass, grooving with some sexy young lady on the dance floor. lol That would be super cool. Also, the roller skating era :)

Apparently though a lot of people hate that genre and think it's gay. If people hate the genre so much, why has it survived decades later? I mean, almost every wedding party i go to has some disco music during the dance. So it must not be that bad. I'd much rather grove to that then some of the stuff that comes out now-a-days like lady gaga (AKA lady haha), and Katty Perry crap.

I'm actually listening to Kool and the Gang right now :)

I'd be much more likely found dancing to disco than all that dance club crap found in clubs today. Has more rhythm to it in my opinion. More opportunity to get close and comfortable too. But I'm a romantic.

Disco is freaking awesome. The people who say otherwise are people who listen to rap and hip hop and whatnot, and quite frankly who cares about their opinion. I love jukebox songs to and get made fun of all the time for it. Simple response back is this: let's see how much of your stuff will be listened to 40 years from now.

No. Honestly, I'd rather listen to disco than a good chunk of modern music (given that half the modern music is rap/hip-hop) And honestly it's all about personal preference. I like disco myself. It's not bad at all.

If those people who think Disco is 'Gay' listen to Lady GaGa or anything remotely dancey on a radio Top 40, you are well within your right to slap them upside the head.

Without disco (for better or worse), electronic pop music wouldn't have evolved to the level it is today. Disco bred House, House bred a bunch of other electronic genres, and those genres eventually seeped back into Pop music.

Disco may be cheesey at times but it is a self-aware kind of cheesey. Besides, it's been uncool to hate on Disco for several decades. If you are interested in learning about why hating on Disco became such a fad way-back-when, the history behind the "Disco Sucks" movement is a pretty interesting read. Lots of politics and shadiness.
