Is it considered canon for zombies to use weapons?

it all depends on what type of zombie we're talking here. for modern zombies, i use the Zombie Survival Guide as the model zombie. In that case, no. Walking dead zombies use rocks to bash glass occasionally. Thats... okay. kinda.

For magical zombies, i think theres a lot more leeway. In DND type high fantasy, the undead tend to take the "power" of the body from which they were reanimated. So a level bazillion hero would be expected to turn into a pretty epic zombie.

I think the original 'Day of the Dead' (by George Romero) had a zombie eventually learn how to pick up and use a handgun, though I could be wrong.
And I think that some zombies in The Walking Dead (t.v. show) were able to pick up and use simple bludgeoning weapons (i.e. random pieces of heavy/solid crap)
Thats right he shot the army guy at the end. Althought he had been trained by the scientist and am not sure if he was a special zombie.

Well, my Vampire Counts armies have zombies with weapons... armour as well.

*shrug*

Besides, I don't think 'canon' is a word that can be applied to such a common antagonist as a zombie.
