Is it even possible or probable?

After a few rounds of CoD...yes, I'm actually pretty good. 1.96 K/D ratio and proud of it. But I didn't type this to brag...My topic is camping. Yes. Another camping topic.

Now camping is highly frowned upon in the gaming world, but so widely used. After faceplanting from campers, I began to think, what if there were an FPS where players couldn't camp? Or a game that penalizes campers? Wouldn't it be perfect? But my mind still can't seem to grasp any slight idea of how.

Any input/opinions/reasons to support the "No Camping Act of Gaming"?

There was one where you could only stand/crouch still for about 30 seconds before you died. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called though.

The only thing about campers is once they've killed you, you know where they are and they don't know where you'll come from. You have the advantage. So while I doubt it's possible to remove camping, it does have it's upsides.

And also have a welcome message:

I've played in loads of servers that have anti camping things.

Some CSS servers (And even a TF2 server I've played in) have a beacon that bleeps loudly and makes you really obvious to see if you stand still for too long, I played in a few Call of Duty servers that had something like it as well.

There are loads of anti camping things in games.

In unreal tournament if you sat in one spot too long you would get dropped from the game.

If a levels designed right thats true. A proper sniper moves between shots, even without kill cams. Team games make camping alot more troublesome, as the approaches to the sniper can be protected.

I have played maps over the years where a sniping location covers the only ways up to it. A sniper in that situation can be almost imposible to shift.

I'm a fan of games that use level design and the like to encourage proper shoot and move tactics, rather than cheesy anti camp timers/beacons.

Camping in some respects is a respectable way to play a game, if you can find a good enough spot, and not be found surely you're playing well?

I'm not a big fan of CoD, but where you have team based objectives camping is surely a valid way to help your team?

Make guns really loud and don't give people silencers, effective, realistic, and awesome. Also, muzzle flash is awesome. Just wanted to say that.

That's when you snipe them from below. Very hard but usually manageable.

I don't do a great deal of camping but to be honest its a core route in game play. The idea that games are better the more 2 opposing forces run into each other at high speeds all guns blazing is to miss the point of the FPS genre somewhat. Camping is a core part of games like TF2 and even makes the odd CSS game a little more interesting. Yeah its annoying that you get pwnd occasionally but your only really mad that you didnt check properly before running into an open space spotted by snipers.

+1, the more people who camp, the more you have to play differently rather than just, as you say, run in guns blazing.

After all, variety is the spice of life!

I think the problem is level design. COD4 and MW2 are games with lots of nasty camper spots, but NONE of them are unmovable with a bit of planning and teamwork. I personally love playing MW2 but ONLY with two particular friends of mine. We operate as a team and we've won games by ourselves holding capture points and won death-matches by putting our sniper or machine gunner in a good spot while the other two protect him.
It only seems right for snipers to be able to camp, because 99% of the job of a real scout sniper or sharpshooter is just that! (My cousin is a former USMC Scout Sniper)
Games should decide what they want to be and design levels to fit. Halo3 is an individual game. COD4 and, especially MW2, are squad-based games. (Our trifecta holds an average KtD Ratio of 4.1 to 1 in MW2)
Now I'm rambling, if it is actually a game where camping is bogus, then level design and weapon balance are the answers.
