Whenever i'm reading through forums, and I see someone who has been banned/suspended/put on probation, I tend to go and look at the offending post.

So, does anybody else do this?

Yep, it's a good way to learn from their mistakes, and on a less practical note, it's a good way to learn who you should ostracize and avoid.

No it is not just you.

I often do it because I'm interested in reading the massive flamewars that might have possibly occurred. Sort of disappointing and annoying when it's just some guy that wrote "This." by itself after quoting someone then getting put on Probation for it.

Yeah, I do wonder why, especially when the person is banned. It is usually disappointing though because I like Thunderhorse94 look forward to an awesome war of words.

I do almost all the time. I also get really tempted to read posts by people on my ignore list, but I can stay away from those somehow.

I like to see their FAILURE!

And this is coming from a guy who has been suspended before.

I only do it when I'm curious to see why they've been put on probation/suspended/banned, especially if the post of theirs that I'm reading seems well-written and reasonable. So I usually follow the link and see what they did.

Yes i do, mainly as one im overly curious and the way the text saying it was put on probation is it sometimes blocks the post below,or is that just me?

I think it's a very common thing to do, and the whole point of linking to the post (besides name-and-shame). I regularly check it out to see what went wrong (quite an interesting history sometimes), and what "wrong" is so I don't make the same mistakes.

There's an Ignore function?

Yes. It's just you. You're a beautiful little snow flake. Like everyone else.

And yes, I do exactly that. And I'm often amazed at the inane reasons for people getting probations/suspended/banned. At times this forum can be L'il Toddlers First Internet Forum.

It's a great way to see how little it takes for the Banhammer to be swung with lethal force by the trigger happy mods.

Who wants to bet I get banned because I said that?
