Is it rare to see teamwork in Modern Warfare 2?

In MW2, it was extremely rare to be on a team that communicated anything beyond "there's a guy on the other team that I strongly disapprove of", let alone worked together on any higher level than "I'll follow you for a bit".

In Bad Company 2, unfortunately, the "I'm only in it for the weapon unlocks" thing is still pretty prevalent, despite the very generous bonuses the game hands out for cooperative gameplay (I'm around the same rank as players with a thousand more kills than me, thanks to the squad bonuses). However, it does encourage a hell of a lot more players to function as a team when contrasted with MW2's free-for-all-where-half-the-players-are-mutually-invincible.

Top Gear Top Tip: It's all about people skills. Your friend couldn't get them to work together not only because he didn't knew them, but because he didn't try to know them. Simple as that.

It's unfortunate indeed, I get into those matches as well but usually where there is a mic, there is a chance to foster teamwork and teamplay.

As a wise man once said "Teamwork/spirit/play is only formed during the beginning of a battle, not before"

And it usually does. After 3 rounds and a accomplished teamwork, it's like I can trust these guys with my virtual life everyday.

See, I always got the matches with everyone playing recon and everyone else trying to be stealthy with the engineer or playing as the medic just for the LMG and they never heal or revive anyone EVER.

Teamwork in MW2:

Two people sitting in a corner for the entire game with shotguns shooting people as they walk by. AKA, as most people on Xbox Live will call it, "skill"

Play with friends if you want teamwork.

That or save a clan on your team from getting killed by a noobtuber, then they start to listen when you call out enemy predators or enemy locations...

EDIT: Teamwork in something like RDR or GTA is more a big ball of wibbly wobbly, temporarilyness. In both games I've teamed up with randomers to take on others, and the only "betrayl" is blowing out the car tyres or the RDR-equivalent (throwing knife+ horsey). That said these temporary alliances can change in a heartebat.

I like to try to but sometimes it's doesn't work out, many times I have seen a sniper on our team and planted a claymore on a door to stop somebody knifing him.

It's just immature people who want to be the glory hunter.
I see this happening a lot. I also see people trying to get a good trick shot or glitch while I'm trying to take a point and I'll die because they didn't kill the guy that was in their line of sight. Terrible.

I have it on PS3 and most of my friends don't have one so I play with randoms a lot of the time. But I try to work as a team, keeping with groups and making sure other players backs are clear etc....

I did play one sabotage match once in the Terminal map where my entire team worked like a team and none of us had a microphone. It was pretty good and we totally destroyed the opposing team with our tactics. I just wish more players would be like that in team based stuff like sabotage or domination
