Is it that hard to find a virgin?

I've never done any of those and I'm a junior in high school. I live in Mississippi though so I'm definitely the minority around here. Everyone else seems to have had sex, drink, smoke, whatever. I don't really let it get to me though since I'm not the one harming myself. As for the only dating virgins thing, it's kinda justified, but in this day and age you're excluding a pretty large group from your amount of potential partners. It's a belief you seem to adhere heavily to, though, so not going to try to sway your opinion or anything.

I'm 18 and I'm a virgin by choice. While defiantly I stay away from drugs and the partiers but casual drinking doesn't bother me and while I would want to date another virgin I wouldn't date someone who has made a mistake. Either way I won't be having sex till marriage.

I think the biggest issue i have with the "must be virgins" crowd, is that they treat sex like its something dirty to be ashamed of. Which is particularly ironic since they believe its a gift from god. I've seen people totally abandoned by their friends just because they "fell into sin." It's hypocritical and cruel, and it disgusts me. One of many reasons i'm not a christian.
I don't think it is dirty and shameful. I think it should have some meaning to it. Almost everyone of my friends have had sex before and I don't mind in the least. My moral doesn't come from any church, it comes from the background of my entire family getting pregnant and having a child before 17. I am the only person in my whole family who is 18 and has not got somebody knocked up which is a major accomplishment for me.
So why is it virginity and not that she has a kid, where you draw the line?
Because once you lose it the first time, it is hard to never have it again. And once you start having sex a lot, it will eventually lead to a kid.

I'm pushing 24 and haven't done any of those things. Simply put... i'm just not interested. I've never understood the appeal of booze, drugs, or sex without love. But... I am happy with where I am, and that's all that matters. :3

And yes, I am taken. My apologies to those like the OP who are looking for someone like me.

Not if you get an abortion. Problem solved.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I don't know why you would want a virgin, I mean they don't know what they are doing and the first time can hurt badly, I don't know why you would want to inflict pain on anyone during your first time.

I didn't do any of those things because I am a gamer. The whole drug/drinking thing to me is pointless because im doing fine without expensive, harmful, and illegal acts so why bother starting? The sex thing wasn't so much by choice but I didn't find a girl I could relate to until college. Then again I'm not the type of person to play the whole dating game to buy / bullshit my way into someones pants. Its been a good 8 years since I was in high school and I wouldn't have done much differently.

Protip: High School kids think they are living the most important time of there life until they hit college/work force and realize that all there petty problems are bullshit and hollow. (not being cynical, just honest)

Edit: Who cares if somebody is a virgin as long as they aren't a slut. Someone who isn't a virgin because they were in a 1+ year relationship is different than somebody who has sex after 3 dates or after getting some jewelry. The quality of a person's character is far more important than if they are a virgin or not. (avoid labeling people it only causes problems. Yes i labeled myself as a gamer in the beginning of this but i can label myself whatever the fuck i want cause its me :p )
you do realize that you just labelled someone who has sex after 3 dates a slut 2 lines before saying that labeling was a bad thing...

So if you totally fell for someone and then found out they weren't a virgin you would break it off.

Seems kind of judgemental to me.

I'm currently in high school and haven't smoked, done drugs, drank, etc.

And I really don't care much for sex.

*raises hand* Not for lack of a lot of people in school trying to get me to have sex which is why I don't speak to them anymore. Every conversation starts out asking if I have had sex yet and it was so bad during school I actual had girls offering me pity sex cause I need to "experience" it. But I never gave into what they wanted and seeing how one girl got pregnant and one guy have two girls a STD I think I made the right choice to keep my virginity. I'll have sex when I'm ready not because some people have an issue with it.

Don't believe in abortion unless a woman is raped. Again, not a religious thing; personal belief.

My thoughts exactly. Seems...almost archaic at this point in time. *shrugs* To each their own I guess.

Don't give up hope, your ideal girl is out there somewhere. I had given up hope finding the girl of my dreams, and sure enough she appeared in my life after all. Whatever your standards may be, you will find her, given time and patience.
Not to be demeaning towards you, but do you know how many times I've heard that, or something similar, from people? It annoys me how often people pull out that cliche phrasing.
So..let me get this straight. I speak from experience that there is indeed hope since it happened to me, and your first instinct is that I am being cliche? That's pretty sad, dude.

Honestly I don't care about any of that unless they let it negatively affect their life. I don't want to date an alcoholic, a junkie, or someone who is promiscuous. If they drink I don't mind. If they like to smoke I don't mind. If they've had sex with other people before I don't mind.

If they drink to the excess all the time I mind. If they like to toke up every single day, multiple times a day, or if they let it interfere with their normal life I mind. If they have sex with other people once we've been going out for a while I mind, I always make it clear once the relationship is more serious that I want to be exclusive and I expect exclusiveness.

Op, if it really matters, I would look for a good catholic, or similarly religiously inclined, girl.

This sounds right out of /adv/.

Edited to answer your question:

Yes.

I drank, smoked a little pot, and lost my virginity at 15. BUT (and this is a big butt, har har) this was far from the norm. Many people at my school were virgins, didn't drink or smoke, but if they were in a group of peers would never admit it.

It's a legitimate medical procedure that allows a woman to exert greater control over her own body. I don't think a woman should be forced to have a baby just because she consented to sex, especially since childbirth is fairly dangerous. But maybe I'm the crazy one.

*Raises hand*

I've never done any of those things, but to be fair I've only never had sex because I've never gone out of my way seeking it, I'd certainly do it where the opportunity to present itself and she wasn't a total sleaze ball.
