They were, then they stopped. Then the same team went on and made District 9. Much better use of money.

If they do make it the need to have the Master Chief's voice be the same as it was in the game. You never see his face in the game.

It will never be time for a Halo movie, havent we learned anything from Max Payne, Hitman and Doom?
I think a video game movie could be made as long as you have the right director to make it.

Zack Snyder made 300 and Watchmen very well and they were comic books. Watchmen was even said to be a comic book that could not be made into a movie and it was and it was excellent. Granted the comic book was better but then again the book will always be better than the movie.

I think there's a reason the original idea for a Halo movie was abandoned
Not for long though, I hear that Speilberg picked up the rights to make one.

A Halo movie would be about as good as a Doom movie. Could you imagine how horrible that...

Oh, wait

No, it will NEVER be time for a Halo movie. It should NEVER be time for a video game movie but Halo is right down at the dog shit bottom of the pile I'd ever want to see a film made of. Maybe the only one below it would be Metal Gear Solid.
hehe they already made a metal gear solid movie, it's called MMGS4 XD
True, even the final boss fight with liquid felt like a cut scene.

As much as I like Halo, it needs to die. It's like your favorite pet, you love it, you never want to see it go, but eventually it gets old and you realize, it would be much better off just being allowed to die than continuing its miserable life.
This is Halo.

If made like landfall or ODST live action trailer, then yes. I also agree with the no master chief idea. He a game characters a character, which you want to control not watch. And also the master chief and all other Spartans for that matter are near indestructible. Were as an ODST marine, well they can be
hurt, the fact that they are human and cannot take a direct hit form a brute shot makes the danger for them a lot more real. I also think the ODSTs are a lot cooler than the Spartans. Get a good director and it doesn?t Bloom Kemp, ridley Scott might do a good job we all saw Black Hawk down. That was a grate epic. That?s another thing it would have to be an epic lots of action big battles, lots of troops, and also you could add a whole new direction to it, space battles we only saw a glimpse of what a UNSC fleet look like in the third game but imagine that up against a covenant armada. I can say hands down I have never seen a good film, which has had a good large scale space battle. The only thing I saw which came close was the new battle star galactica.

And I?m done.

This is true but that magical combination has yet to be realised. Take max payne for example, it was almost there on so many levels but it crashed and burned harder because of it. If only they had stuck to the ACTUAL story which would have translated into a film so easily and represented the characters properly it would of worked.

Yes, while they are at it why don't they make a game out of Watchmen... no wait, that was terrible, even the film adaptation of the comic was pretty crap. I say, if it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

If anything, make a Halo movie from the original source material that inspired Halo like The Culture, Ringworld and Ender's Game by Iain M. Banks, Larry Niven and Orson Scott Card. Though Halo is a nice compilation of many of those high-sci-fi elements you have to realise the universe was created with a game in mind not a film.

At the end of the day only three things matter:
-GOOD director
-Good script
-Correct mindset of Production company

I mean if you don't get those three things right it doesn't matter if it is Halo or 50 Cent's game, it will be unadulterated shit.

Exactly, which is why I think Zack Snyder could make a good video game movie. He did change the ending to Watchmen but it still ended the same as it did in the comic book.

Although I will say though that a video game made into a TV show would work best. Just because it would have more time to explain the plot and the character details.

It could be if it incorporated enough material from the novels.

Many people here bad mouth Halo's story without realizing it has a rich and very interesting expanded universe outside of the games.
