When they're designed to be, it's completely normal (*cough* Rebecca Change *cough*)
When they aren't, it can be disturbing (don't look up rule 34 on Fallout 3, if you do I accept no responsibility at all and you must sign on this line . . . . . . . . . .)
Then you will think that I'm the most disturbed person on earth, because I think that this girl looks sexy:
I'm not joking, I'm really not. I really think that she is sexy.

I'd raise concerns over any oral interaction with teeth like those. On the other hand, you might be into British chicks. Try it out.

Oh where to start?

Zoey (L4D)
Alex Vance (HL2)
Kairi (KH2)
Yuna (FFX)
Tifa Lockheart (FFVII)

There's probably more but defiantly those 5.
Go Valve and Square!

EDIT:
Clair Redfield (RE2)
Lilith (Borderlands)

The characters are designed in a way to make them physically attractive, so don't worry about anything. I think Zero Suit Samus looks damn fine and some of my mates likes the look of Cortana and no-one holds it against either of us.

I really don't know how I feel about myself for this, but i think i may be in love with this month's cover of game informer.

I can't look away. If i met an actual person who looked like that, I'd pass out.

Well, I guess as long as you don't try to kill or stalk the character's voice actor, it ain't too bad to find a character attractive/have a crush on. You know, I had a crush on Chie from Persona 4, because she reminded me of a girl I liked, a girl that liked my cooking, wore spandex shorts, was really damn fit, and kicked things a lot. So, naturally I kinda got attached to Chie.

Also, I didn't expect to see so many people mention Persona and say exactly what I was going to say, like this guy who brought it up for the same reason:

For example, it got weird for me when I started playing Persona 3 Fes while i was between girlfriends and I fell in love with Chihiro Fushimi because she reminded me of my last girlfriend at the time

Chihiro
(its eerie, at least to me)
So yeah, just keep it in check and dont hold IRL girls to the standard to VG girls.

XD Yeah, you dont hink Persona's a popular game till you hear people talking about it online. And with its cast of characters, its hard to find a girl you that wont remind you of someone you may have liked in the past.

No, they're designed and made to bring a certain attachment to them as a character- but I think there's a limit until it is creepy/weird

There's fancying a game character..
...and then there's obsessing about them, dreaming or writing about them or pretending like they're real- then yea, that's beyond weird.
I dont think thats what you're talking about, though. :D

Your mind recognises the human aspects... its like having a crush on someone you just met. As far as you're aware there is nothing else to their personality. The difference is that a real person can have more depth. mmm I don't think it's exactly weird as long a you recognise it for what it is.

Recently I've found Morgan LeFlay form Monkey Island cute. mmm But it's rare for games to write characters I care about so other than her... not really.

Since playing Assassin's Creed I find Ezio Auditore rather hot (yes I am a girl). My friends find this weird but I'm not the only girl who finds him yummy.

Does anyone else have any crushes on game characters?
It's kinda weird for a Non-RPG character, as RPG tend to try to immerse yourself in the experience, and its not uncommon to genuinely feel what your character does, an Example is in ME2, IRL I would never try to romance a Quarian, but because its in-game it gives you a chance to explore that kind of thing without actually having to do it.

Alistair from Dragon Age:Origins.

It had NEVER happened before. I had never thought of a game character that way, but every time I'd choose the speech options to build our relationship to a romantic level, I'd start going, "Hehehe! He's so cute and naive! Wooo"

I felt absolutely silly.

But it never mounted to me trying to make-out with the screen or anything. Well,...except for that one time...*cough*

Just a little game crush. >_>

To answer your question, no, it is not wierd to fancy a game character.

I personally have found certain character's in games who seemed realistic to be somewhat attractive, though it was never more than a simple "hey, if they were real I might like them" kind of deal.

Point being: No, it's not wierd for someone to have the hots for a movie, or book, or game character. It is wierd for them to have an obsession though.
