Is it worth going back to borderlands?

Borderlands is a strictly guaranteed co-op experience. Not to say that playing alone is bad, but it feels oh so lonely otherwise.

I played the game alone, and I had lots of fun. I'm just telling what others tell me about the co-op experience.

But of course, if you base it on co-op alone, it'll start gathering dust/digital dust rather quickly me thinks.

If you got bored then leave it be, only if you get some co-op mates to entertain you would it be sensible to go back.
And it's not like you miss any story because it gets thiner and thiner towards the end... and then the end happens... I daren't even speak of the horrors.

Anyway just wait for Borderlands 2.

The story, for me, was fun(funny) and interesting.

The DLC, especially General Knoxx's secret armoury, is brilliant and definitely worth the purchase.

35% of the Borderlands experience is playing co-op with friends a lot of the fun comes from the character you play aswell.

In my opinion the soldier is the worst of all four of them to play in CO OP. When you play alone he's great, whereas the siren is difficult to cope with when playing solo due to issues with SMG ammo.

Play through the entire game at least once (there's a 2nd playthrough to reach level cap). The game is funny and enjoyable to play through, if you're not having fun you're doing it wrong ;)

No... just no. The game hasn't gotten any less grindy or repetitive. The DLCs have been interesting, to be sure, but IMO not worth returning for. After seeing the trailers for the sequel, my brother and I tried getting back into the game just to come to the exact same realization. If the sequel does turn out to be a genuinely enjoyable game, it will not be because it tried to replicate the experience of its predecessor.

I played it solo mostly sometimes split screen locally I found it fun especially if you get some of the DLC. I've also done 2 playthroughs with a character and enjoyed the second one just as much as it is essentially new game+. You keep character level and all the enemies level to still be able to take some hits and you find rediculously powerful guns, found a sniper rifle that had base damage of 993.

I'm psyched for BL2 even if it is not that much different it will be fun and plus claptrap never ceases to amuse me.

It's worth it just to see the final vagina mouthed beast; seriously, the person who designed the bosses for this game obviously has some issues with the female body.
Yea the ending is crap but it's more about the journey than the destination. I've played through it with each character now and had fun each time. It is better with friends so get someone to sit on the couch for some split screen action.

Heh. I got three or four of my friends to get back into Borderlands.
We had three PCs playing it and two people on my friend's 360 doing co-op.

Dunno why. It's just such a fun game to slog through.

(actually, thinking about it, it's one of the very few "newish" LAN-capable games on PC. I'm hoping that doesn't go away in Borderlands 2...it seems to be a recurring trend in PC gaming to kill LAN mode and force everyone to use a server for the DRM)

Borderlands 2 is kind of looking more and more..apealing in a way...I want to like it due to how different it is to other stuff

ans you know the borderlands action figures are eaqually temping

excpet I never finished the first borderlands, it just felt grindy and no fun on my own, and I hear the story isnt exactly all that great and hell the multiplayer could quite possibly be dead

however...it simply would feel right going into the seaquel without finished the original

soo what do you think?
I literally just restarted if the other day after never finishing it, 1st thing, you need to have atleast someone to co-op with and chat to. It does not work as a single player game at all. 2nd The first few hours of the game are dull as fuck, once you hit about Lvl 15 it really picks up. I almost quit again because of the dull start.

Depends on why you play it in the first place. I'm a "dress-ups" kind of guy. Like building characters and gearing them up. For me the endgame was a sniper that could face-rape and the "story" was just a means to get the loots. The original plot has some great characters while the ending is pretty meh.
Do what the guy closer to the top of the thread suggested. PLay through the main storyarc and roll straight into General Knoxx's armory. Its a good bit of DLC that feels like it rolls straight on from the main campaign. It should take about 20hrs of your time all up and the GOTY edition is $15 on steam atm.

Value for money imo.

Yea it's 'grindy' in the main story after a bit of killing the same thing but I still enjoyed it (solo) for what it is. Also as others have mentioned I would definitely pick up the DLC packs except for moxis underdome. its just killing wave of enemies which you can do while movin on in the main game. As you may tell by my avatar I am keen for 2 and i hope that its story is much better that the first

Definitely, I played Borderlands many times through on my Xbox 360 a while ago but never played any of the dlc, I bought it on steam with the sale a couple of days ago with all the dlc and have been playing it again and loving it.

A good 75% of the beasts in Borderlands had a vaginal quality to them.
But that final boss looks like something straight out of Urotsukidoji.

Yea, it's worth finishing the game just to see that.

I actually played Borderlands up until the "final boss", but I never got passed that part. It's good to know I'm not missing anything.
Third and fourth dlc expand the story though.
