Is it wrong to not really hate any game?

We've had threads like this before, 'why all the hate' etc.

Truly hate is a loaded word that could mean a lot of things, but personally, I don't HATE any game.

One can probably understand why this might seem strange to me.

I've been disappointed, I've had 'bullshit!' moments, but I've never been filled with the apparently inextinguishable HATE that some seem to have for certain games.

And this seems strange.

Thoughts?

You should go to the doctor. Tell them you need to be put down, you freak! Otherwise next you'll tell us that you possess reasonable thought process and do not need to exaggerate things you say in order to make them look like they matter more. I have only only finger to show to the likes of you!

Not really, it means you don't fall into hyperbole like most people I guess. Most of the time people who "hate" a game are exaggerating greatly, I do this all the time for example. I am a very guilty party when it comes to using the word "hate" when it really shouldn't be used.

I guess it depends on how you define "hate" toward games.

Personally, I see hating something as simply being on the extreme end of not liking something, just as loving something is the extreme end of liking something.

Thus, even if you say you don't "hate" anything, I'd still tend to say that whatever you dislike the most (or, like the very least) would qualify as your "hate".

Personally, I'm very open to games, and I give them a fair shot before forming an opinon. Most people think it's low standards, but i'm very forgiving of a game's problems. For example, most people tend to be up in arms about glitches, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest, unless it causes the game to be completely unplayable. Like Big Rigs unplayable.

So it really hurts me to see all these threads bashing multiple games that i have enjoyed.

I could probably count on my fingers how many games i've played that i've truly hated, the first Two Worlds fits that bill perfectly.

Yeah, same here, actually. I'm not looking for high art or anything. I'm not one to nitpick a game to death or go into long rants about every little thing wrong with a game. I just wanna be entertained, in one way or another. If a game is enjoyable, I'll overlook any flaw others would probably be dedicate entire threads about. Then again, I'm not as big of a gamer as I used to be, so I go into a game with the same mindset as when I go into a movie. The worst games I've played have been "meh" at the least. There were probably some bad ones I've played, but none that really left an impact on me.

It's not wrong at all. In fact, it's rather the sane way to approach things. I think it's pretty fair to say that games are an important part of life for anyone who visits this site, especially if they've taken the time to create an account and post here. But, games are still an entertainment medium that ranges from entertainment to art. Same thing with game companies. They are businesses that exist to provide something people will want to spend money on. That's it and that's all.

If you find yourself actually hating a game or a company that makes games, then you should probably reassess your priorities in life.

If you find yourself using the word hate when you really just mean that you dislike something, find it's not to your personal tastes, disagree with a companies policies and/or business plan, etc. then you should probably reassess your vocabulary.

Nobody HATES a game... People dislike games. People dislike a certain food. People HATE the guy that beat them up, the man that raped their sister, the woman that falsely accused them of rape...

Well maybe someone does hate certain games... That's a bit overblown though, they cant have anything to truly hate in life Oo. Lucky people...

There are only 2 games that I think I can say I hate and without hint of irony or without sounding pretentious and those would be Fable 3 and Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2. The former because of how many stupid decisions and, leaps backward it took from the original and, the later for completely fucking not only a good expanded universe story but, fucking an entire premise for a series of Anthology games based around Sith Lords and Jedi Knights.

You are lucky to not feel hate for video games OP but does this also mean you don't have a very special game that you love above all others?

hate for a game series is developed when each successive game in the series turn out to be disappointing for you..
eg. lot of people hate resident evil games because they are not satisfied by the games. they dislike it a lot..
same with call of duty
some people hate COD series because they say its the same damn game every year..
so mostly when you are hating a game its most likely not a single game but the series in general
