You just haven't played any really bad games . Count yourself lucky .
I'm sure every game I have played in my lifetime would be considered by at least one person on this here forum to be objectively bad.
Drake of the 99 Dragons I think is pretty unanimously bad. As well as the prior-mentioned Big Rigs, and a plethora of other games.

So, for the most part it's opinionated, but not always.

Often enough, I've found that people don't really hate a game. They may dislike the game and some other aspect of it then pushes them to the extreme edge of that dislike.

In some cases, fans of games or series have completely put me off the idea of ever watching or playing them. I don't hate the work the fans love so much, I just can't stand being canvassed by people who know I have no interest in what they love. I know I won't enjoy them, so I leave them alone, yet others will drive me to distraction with their yammering.

At that point, I'll just say I hate it, simply to make them shut up about it.

So, in most cases, it could be something similar to my pet peeve that's driving someone to say they hate a game.

Hah no. The word gets thrown around too much in regard to communities and games itself and I don't think people really mean it. I'm guilty of this too and have probably loosely used "hate" when talking about a game but I don't really hate any games. They're all fun in their own way and some are just not my thing.

But no it's not wrong. It's good that you don't hate things.

No. I've hated a couple but not very many. I'm almost perpetually surprised by the internet's insatiable appetite for hate. There are plenty of games that have underwhelmed, disappointed, or even downright depressed me. However, there are very few that I would describe myself as having 'hated'.

It means you are able to move past disappointment without dwelling on it. Alot of people have this abolity in only a limited capacity or not at all, so congradulations.

Very true. People bring up notoriously broken games like Big Rigs or Drake of the 99 Dragons and while, yes, they are pretty much confirmed to be terrible games that are not worth playing, they still really aren't worthy of hate. They're bad games. Move on and play something you do enjoy.

We live in an era of gaming right now where there are literally so many games in a number of genres that even if you picked the best ones and only played those you'd possibly still be skipping over some. Disappointment is only natural if you follow something for a while and it turns out to be less than expected or if you like a series/developer for a period of time and then you stop liking it at some point. That's just human nature, but if it actually bothers you to the point of vitriollic hatred then you really must not have much else going on in your perspective of life and the world.

My philosophy proffers daughter was learning to read, and apparently did not know what the word bad meant. he and his wife always give reason not to do something, as opposed to saying just that it is bad. That made me happy.

I'd say that wasting your time hating something as ephemeral as a video game would be more wrong.

Captcha = love is blind (and stupid).

Positivity is a good thing.

It's hard for me to hate a game. Bad games are good learning experiences for a designer after all. Final Fantasy 12 taught me soooo much about pacing, by showing me a perfect example of what no one should EVER do.

I hate racist, sexist, gay-bashing or 'rapeplay' games, for obvious reasons. I also genuinely hate Other M, because as far as I can tell there's a good chance one of my favorite franchises is gone for good.

]Yeah, same here, actually. I'm not looking for high art or anything. I'm not one to nitpick a game to death or go into long rants about every little thing wrong with a game. I just wanna be entertained, in one way or another. If a game is enjoyable, I'll overlook any flaw others would probably be dedicate entire threads about. Then again, I'm not as big of a gamer as I used to be, so I go into a game with the same mindset as when I go into a movie. The worst games I've played have been "meh" at the least. There were probably some bad ones I've played, but none that really left an impact on me.
I just wanted to say that your avatar gave me emotional diabetes. So thanks.

Hate is obscure and very personal, you are right in that you don't hate a game, but what is there to feel about a 'thing.' It's a think it does what it does and it imposes nothing on you. You have been mislead into playing or buying it.
I don't hate games, I just think most of them amount to a lot of craftsmanship - not art - of whatever quality being tossed together, resulting in a pile, or garbage, both fitting descriptions for a 'thing'.

People overstate emotions, they say love and hate when they mean slight affection or dislike. The words - particularly those describing emotions - have become meaningless.

No, it's perfectly sensible. Hate is a strong emotion and if you feel genuine hate for a videogame then.. Well, you might have a problem.

The only time I could see anything resembling hate for a videogame justified was if the game in question was actively trying to demolish video games as a medium.
