ME 1 is RPG.
ME 2 is gears of war with some RPG thrown in.
ME2 is every bit an RPG as ME1. Not having 150 near-identical assault rifles to choose from does not make a game more of an RPG.

Now, if you compare ME1/ME2 with other RPGs like Fallout, then I might consider it a point that ME is somewhat "less" of an RPG. But please, ME1 and ME2 are not so different, ME2 is just streamlined.

You're all wrong, Mass Effect is about driving up and falling down 90 degree walls, dodging thresher maws and the odd missile or two and that's half the game(gametime spent, that is). Oh yeah, 15- 20 minutes10- 15 hours of shooting picking out upgrades you really want to keep on your HMWP Master Pistol XI or if it's really worth switching to ...

... and the rest is just talking with hot alien chicks and ignoring "Turian Council members".

Close guys, but no cigar.

(ME2 is mostly shooting ... except when you're not)

There is very little melée in ME, you can knock people over if they get close, and it's a valid tactic. Going medival on their asses with a shotgun is always fun.

Almost forgot, you can elbow your foes in the face in ME2. And you can charge(Vanguard have that move, by default, makes Superman look like a sissy). Kasumi got an unique melée move aswell. Another thing, you can also run up to an opponent and smack them in the face if you really want to.

But no, It's mostly shooting.

Protip: don't smack a krogan in the face.
