My guess is the reason why we are still seeing a huge chunk of 3DS games from Nintendo still is because these are the final batch of games meant to bolster sales of the handheld when it was doing pretty bad. Assuming that a good chunk of them took 2-3 years when the 3DS was still in the "DOOOMED" category.Neronium said:While Mario I won't argue, I say Zelda still has steam, but it's seeming like that steam is staying on handhelds, just like Mario it seems because Nintendo appears to be more creative on handhelds nowadays than when it comes to their home consoles, which is weird.Quellist said:A really good Metroid might make me want the system but Mario isnt going anywhere except remake country and Zelda imo seems to be running out of steam
Thing is the 3DS picked up after 3D Land was out, and from there they should have started focusing on the Wii U, and it shouldn't be hard for a multibillion dollar company to learn to multi-task. But they didn't, and it's still showing that they are focusing more on the 3DS than the Wii U.Dragonbums said:Now that the 3DS is in the very safe zone Nintendo can bring it's dev team focus back to the Wii U. I predict summer of next year will be the time when we should see some announced/in progress games for the Wii U more so than the 3DS.
3D land may of picked up sales, but you still have to keep in mind that there were probably a buttload of 3DS games still being developed at that time on the off chance that it doesn't move many units ala Super Mario 3D world.Neronium said:Thing is the 3DS picked up after 3D Land was out, and from there they should have started focusing on the Wii U, and it shouldn't be hard for a multibillion dollar company to learn to multi-task. Also, we've been waiting over 10 years for the next F-Zero, and now with Mario Kart 8 having the "floating car" thing it seems more and more that Nintendo wants to kill the franchise...>.>
I think it's more because it's slated for release next year, and still looks very incomplete. If they were saying that it's coming out Q4 next year then it wouldn't be so bad, but they are pushing for an April release, so I'd be a bit worried.Dragonbums said:3D land may of picked up sales, but you still have to keep in mind that there were probably a buttload of 3DS games still being developed at that time on the off chance that it doesn't move many units ala Super Mario 3D world.Neronium said:Thing is the 3DS picked up after 3D Land was out, and from there they should have started focusing on the Wii U, and it shouldn't be hard for a multibillion dollar company to learn to multi-task. I'm pretty sure there are Wii U games in development. Chances are they aren't ready to show them off yet. Look at how many people are criticizing the visuals of that Dynasty Warriors/Zelda crossovers' despite the fact that even the name isn't set in stone yet.
That would be roughly the same amount of Wii U's pushed by the hype for Super Mario 3D World and the game itself (seeing as the Wii U sold about that much in November).SkarKrow said:Absolutely not, and if anyone is delusional enough to think that Metroid alone could save the Wii U and propel it to the same heigths as the Wii's popularity they need to seek help immediately.
It could however provide a few 100,000's of units shifted to the die hard Metroid fandom.
It was just a guess, i should revise that down then if 3D mario hype can't shift enough of the damn things. Mario 3D Land has been a disappointing thing to me, it's not a real 3D mario, it's a 2D mario in 3D, it doesn't feel inspired or full. Just sterile and insipid, I know it's good when I'm playing but I don't feel it like I felt Galaxy.Evonisia said:That would be roughly the same amount of Wii U's pushed by the hype for Super Mario 3D World and the game itself (seeing as the Wii U sold about that much in November).SkarKrow said:Absolutely not, and if anyone is delusional enough to think that Metroid alone could save the Wii U and propel it to the same heigths as the Wii's popularity they need to seek help immediately.

Nintendo has delayed games in the past plenty of times. And going by the demo, at most all they need to do is add higher res textures, some dynamic lighting, and more complex AI. We have no clue about others areas of the game since it was a sneak peek.Neronium said:I think it's more because it's slated for release next year, and still looks very incomplete. Thing though is that Nintendo can't really afford delays much anymore. The delay of Pikmin 3 hurt the Wii U a lot, as did the delay of other games. But this topic isn't about Nintendo delaying games or about Hyrule Warriors, it's about whether a Metroid game could move a lot of units, and I think we can both agree that the answer to that is a big fat no.Dragonbums said:Nintendo has delayed games in the past plenty of times. I feel like I should apologize for that. I really liked that character back then and went out to get that game asap. Oh, the disappointment it brought...I guess the actual bright side about that is that they've been good with the franchise lately.Neronium said:*pats on back*SilverBullets000 said:And I can say that was also the worst part about it to. They tried to retcon Prime, but Other M will live on forever because it was the creator's baby. I hope he stays away from future installments.
Excuse me, I'm going to go weep in a corner now.
Don't worry, I'm a Sonic fan and have been through similar betrayals as well. *looks at Shadow the Hedgehog since by 06 Yuuji Naka had left Sonic Team and SEGA*
Oh so Other M did retcon Prime entirely? Damn, that's a bit ruthless.SilverBullets000 said:...and, you know, weeping in the corner until Prime is canon...
You think that's bad, I preordered the game...got a Shadow the Hedgehog beanie and everything...SilverBullets000 said:I feel like I should apologize for that. Genuinely hoping that Metroid will bounce back to, honestly. Not holding my breath, mind you, but staying optimistic until I'm given a reason to be pessimistic.
...and, you know, weeping in the corner until Prime is canon...
[sub]...I think having Retro working on DK and Mario Kart gives me a slight reason to stay pessimistic, though...even if they are both great games in their own right...[sub][sub]give them back Metroid Nintendo. They know what to do with it...[/sub][/sub][/sub]
He got...promoted...alright I'm gonna go and join SilverBullets000 in the corner crying about this. I mean really Team Ninja took most of the fall for Other M, which isn't fair because they just made the gameplay, which while meh was still functional.Halyah said:It gets worse. You know the Sakamoto guy behind the main reason Other M was so bad(ie the story)? He got promoted... and if some quotes attributed to him is true then I don't think he ever registered the complaints about Other M. At least that was the impression I got. So I wouldn't have high hopes if I were you.
Yep, Sakamoto retconed the entire Prime series for no good reason. I like to think he probably wasn't happy about how popular and acclaimed the Prime series got seeing as he didn't write it, of course I'm currently wearing my tinfoil hate when saying that theory.Evonisia said:Oh so Other M did retcon Prime entirely? PC Gamer here also, I bought a gamecube back in the day solely for Metroid Prime. But it would have to be a return to prime/super metroid roots. Samus alone on a planet, seeking a dangerous and deadly enemy in an alien enviroment. I wish they'd give us some real bounty hunter style stories for her.spartandude said:If they make a proper metroid title, and not what ever Other M was meant to be, I WILL buy a Wii U.
I think ive found a Kindred SpiritYunakoTheWitch said:for me, yes. I will buy a console if they make another Non-Metroid Other M. Hands down. I'm strictly a PC Gamer but I Love my Metroid.
