Its been in the news today that microsoft has photoshopped a white guys head on top of a black guy in its advertisement [http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/1/hi/technology/8221896.stm]

I'd love to have been in the meeting when this was put forward as a good idea.

So do you believe Microsoft is racist? Was it just stupidity? A good way to save money on advertising?

Your thoughts...

It looks like a terrible shop, and they didn't even change the hand color, I suspect foul play on behalf of a third party.
So, no, no racism on behalf on Microsoft in this case.

I don't think they are racist.
Maybe it was altered to fit the Polish audience.

Or maybe the marketing department for Microsoft in Europe is retarded.

Exactly, for all we know there are only 50 black people in Poland, so a black guy wouldn't even fit!

Yes I'm sure the ENTIRE company and all their roughly 93,000 employees are racist because some advert in Poland was photo shopped. If anything it speaks to the sensibilities of the Polish people.

And that isn't racist... how?

If anything though, it says more about the Polish PR branch of Microsoft than Microsoft itself.

Well even if they did that doesn't make the company in it's entirety, racist. Just the morons who made that advert.

I see I got ninja'd about half a dozen times, damn I am slow today.

That wouldn't surprise me.

It's changing something to represent the countrymen in general. Would it be racist to change a car advert for a Japanese car to have Caucasians in it instead when shown in the US? No, it's just changing the advert to relate to the target audience.

I don't think Microsoft did it, I mean it's a terrible job; with the hands still being black and all.

But if Microsoft did do it, that would be rather mean.

It looks too unprofessional to be microsoft.

I wouldn't be too suprised if a third party did in fact do this.
