It's almost as good as the search button.
Don't over-sell it, man.

I'm not convinced it's actually good, but honestly the fact that it isn't absolute garbage is unbelievable. A My Little Pony revamp had no right to be anything but terrible, but somehow they made a fun little show out of it.

Like I said, I'm not yet sure if I'd call it good, overall, but it definitely has some good moments. Clearly there's enough positive reaction to warrant trying it yourself to see if it's for you. If you like it, you certainly won't be alone.

Why on Earth does the male cow have udders?
I happened upon this terrible 'toon while channel surfing once, and I was so bothered by that that I actually looked it up. Apparently the director of the original movie just felt that cows are funnier than bulls, and that udders are hilarious. So even the male cows have them. I guess... that makes a certain amount of sense, but it's somehow not a satisfying answer. I don't know why I can suspend my disbelief far enough to enjoy a cartoon about talking animals, but give a bovine male udders and suddenly the deal's off. Seems like such a little thing but man it annoyed the crap out of me. Even more than everything else that's wrong with that show.

Oh man I fuckin lol'd.

I was completely unimpressed with the show, when watched an episode on youtube to see what all the fuss was about.

And yet here I am watching another episode, so I agree with the first reply to this thread, it is clearly mind-control, or at least, subtle brainwashing.

or because its for toddlers and they realized they didnt have to put effort into plot as long as they have technicolor ponies and older people who think its cool in an ironic way.
silly cubone, you can't watch cartoons through a skull.

You could try watching the show before criticizing it, you know. Your reasons for disliking it then will make for a better argument, that way. Because... you know, they won't have been plucked from your nether regions.

So, hmm, where does one find those show to watch?
Youtube.

Just search the title and then a number anywhere from 1-26 for an episode.

I'll start you off with the first one:

Or alternatively, it's on the HUB channel, but I don't know one person who gets that, plus why would you? It's on youtube.

In addition, all the horrible, horrible parody videos of bad ass trailers set to MLP images.
This is an outright lie. Back before I liked the show, and hated it if for no other reason than because it was popular, I still liked the trailer mash-ups.
I never said that was anything more than my opinion.

I found those trailers to be incredibly stupid. You did not. Case closed.

I have never seen any thing about it aside from the news page a few days ago about all of the lipsinc trailers (if that's what you can call them) of other things; all of which were pretty cool.
Yeah, it's pretty good, IMO. At least as far as kid shows go.

If you want to know if you'll like it, just skip right to episode 4. If you don't like that one at all it's not for you.

Personally that's the episode that pushed me from "meh...this series is ok, I guess" to "Oh my gosh that was good. I need to see more of this!"

Well my hateful little friend, I guarantee all us bronies like it genuinely, not ironically.

Tried watching a few episodes and I gotta admit the animation is top notch and there was a few chuckle moments but it's not my cup of tea. I don't hate Ponies (The word everyone is using for the title) It's just not my source of entertainment.

I don't understand the Hate against the show, But I also don't understand the massive amount of meme's and Fan LOVE that is rampant all over the Web. But I guess thats the point to spread the love and Friendship besides some could make the same "I don't understand" argument about the Furry Fandom So I digress and just let it be.

Anyway, I kinda see the show and many other things that come along that are INSANELY POPULAR with that line from Wall Street(2010) When the Shia LaBeouf Character is talking about his Clean energy plans and Micheal Douglass responds (Not Quote) How's its the "next bubble".

In my Mind - That's What Pokemon, Ripped Jeans, LA Gears, Backstreet Boys and now My Little Pony is. It's the next bubble that will float up and up and get everyone to love and adore it until it pops NOT because it sucks but only because it ran it's course and the populous finds something else to throw it's attention at. And like Pokemon and many other forms of medium it will live on in the minds of hardcore fans Or it might just be the next Simpsons but we just never know. Remember years ago everyone from Education Analyst to book enthusiast was saying the Harry Potter Series was going to start some sorta new entertainment medium filled with reading instead of Video games... yeah. :p

What the future holds is something wonderful to think about.

So Yeah Not my thing but I'm glad others have something to enjoy immensely ^_^

Oh would like to point out that I am not a furry, and am a big fan of the show! So please note that you don't have to be a furry to enjoy the show, and most bronies arn't furries!

My Little Pony for the win.
Everypony needs some more friendship and magic.

Great animation, catchy tunes, loveable cast, hilarity ensues.

But it's not Joss Whedon, nor Dr.Who, it's fun.
Realistic expectations.

I was for about a month or so after seeing the craze breaking out on my "home forum" hold an adamant stance that I didn't want anything to do with it. That was till I asked the escapists why guys like it. And me being a tolerant gentleman once the idea was proposed that I should see an episode to really see what it was like. It looks really girly looking from the outside in. So I watched the 1st episode, and afew days latter polished off the 2nd because it was a 2 parter. Than it snowballed, I kept going, got into it, realized it wasn't just for little girls, which it looks like it does. It's made so that anyone can watch it.

Now I think it's been about two weeks, I've watched all 26 episodes, completely addicted. In the escapists group for MLP. And I'm having one of my artsy buddies draw me up a pony character.

My motto: Don't knock it till you try it. Didn't exactly hold true to it on this one but I did eventually. And this really is a show a dude has to be coaxed into to watch. It isn't obvious that dudes can watch it to.

So really man don't knock it till you try it. Doors can open and shut, but you never really know whats in there until you step inside.

it's just truly mediocre, which is probably more frustrating than if it was actually bad because then I could sorta understand people watching it ironically

I like it because it's a nice change of pace from all the macho shows on(cartoon or live action). The ironic thing is that after ep 2 it's not as cutesy wootsy as some fans make it out to be. It's charming but not saccharine. If you don't like it by ep 7 then I don't know what to tell you.

My only problem with the show is that there aren't enough imperfect characters, like Trixie. In a world like that you need somebody who's kind of a prick.

After seeing roughly 50% of peoples avatars are ponies, and reading through this thread I finnaly watched the show...now I'm on episode 10

It's colorful, well written and good for a chuckle once in awhile, my favorite is Pinky Pie, that is one crazy filly!

After my girlfriend has more or less forced me to watch about ten episodes I can say, well actually, yes, it is pretty damn good. It gets a lot better after the first few anyway.

The episode where Pinkie Pie goes insane from paranoia of her friends leaving her is great.

Her face at 0:40 is simultaneously hilarious and terrifying...

Edit: Also, I'd attribute its huge popularity to the fact that there isn't really anything like it. It's a well written show, with well defined characters, completely devoid of any cynicism. It's hard not to enjoy it on those grounds, when everything these days is always dark 'n' gritty. It's a nice change, but coupled with the fact that it has a warm atmosphere, and some genuinely funny moments and it's extremely watchable. It's not my favouritest show ever like many would proclaim, but I'd never object to watching another episode. To me it actually reminds me the most of Animaniacs, a really, really god damn fun show with plenty of stuff for everyone.
