This makes no sense whatsoever. It implies that people should listen to music by genre, and as such should only choose the best of that genre (which is subjective anyway) and not listen to anything else.

I don't understand peoples need to always have the "best" when it comes to entertainment.

I like Bioshock more than Bioshock 2, does that mean I shouldn't play Bioshock 2 as the first is better? Of course not, just because it isn't as good does not make it inherently worthless.

If you like it then you have good taste. There are very few artists that are truly bad, the only exceptions to that I can think of are Brokencyde and The Pussycat Dolls. Aside from those two, if you like something then screw everyone else and ignore them when they say they hate it. I don't much care for dance tunes, preferring indie and alternative rock and folk songs. But despite there only being one other erson in my house who also likes those, I don't complain when my housemates play Tinchy Strider and Chipmunk before a night out. I spend my own time listening to the likes of Modest Mouse, Mumford and Sons, Ellie Goulding, Florence and the Machine, Reverend and the Makers, and so on.

And for the record, I also love all four of those artists you listed. Though I haven't heard any Gorillaz stuff for ages, but I am definitely planning to get Plastic Beach in the near future .

I tend to listen to mostly power metal (Nightwish,Gamma Ray, Hammerfall,Edguy, Kamelot, and even some Dragonforce if I'm in the right mood)as well as some metal,hard rock, synth-pop, and electronica.

I agree that music is entirely subjective. I often have running battles with my house mates over music. While one of them likes Slayer, Megadeth, Cannibal Corpse and various other metal bands, I listen to Classic Rock like Jethro Tull, Dire Straits, Thin Lizzy, etc. There is no all encompassing theory about what is good music, it is just personal preference.

I like 'em, if that's any comfort. As a matter of fact, I bought 'Up to now' just a couple of days back.
Really, there isn't anything like good taste. It's your taste, and that is good enough.

...but Brokencyde are geniuses! When you look at all the styles they combine and they way that they do it, it becomes obvious that love it or hate it, it's fantastically well put together. The only thing that genuinely annoys me about them is that as a music industry worker whose job it is to seek out stuff like that and make money off it, I didn't think of the idea first.
