i like the killers, coldplay, onerepublic and gorillaz.
i like more but htose are my faves
What we think is irrelevant, what you like is what you like. If people disagree with it so be it and leave it at that.

Each to their own at the end of the day - Taste is preceptive.

As long as your favorites aren't pop groups whose music is just manufactured for the money, then yes I'd say your taste in music is pretty good.

What a silly thing to ask.

You like what you like, if someone else doesn't, then tough for them. Don't make a big deal out of it if they mock you for it. I love the Beatles and a lot of people were taking the mickey at one point. I was just like, Hey - WTF do you care?

Simply, they went away.

It's crazy that you'd even care what others think, unless you're around 15 and that desire to be accepted and fit in with a group has kicked in.

To date I have met no one with the same musical taste as myself. Certainly there are people who share aspects of it, yet none who seem to span the entire spectrum. On one playlist I have Blue Oyster Cult, Boston, Eminem, Immortal Technique, Amon Amarth, Slipknot, Bowling for Soup, Paramore, Kataklysm and Spandau Ballet. Like what you like and sod everyone else, in whatever medium it may be.

For the record, aside from a couple of killers songs I dislike all the music you mentioned. Remember however, I am simply a random name on the Internet.

Sorry, you are gay :(

You need more Iron Maiden and Tenacious D!

Edit: upon reflection other posters may be right, good taste is relative, if you like it bugger everyone else

I'm okay with this as I really like Gorillaz.

No.

No no no.

No no no no no.

I don't really like saying this, but your taste in music is too mainstream. You're basically only checking out what has been polished enough to become a commercial success, and I'm not saying this just because of Coldplay. One Republic I have never heard, but I hold nothing against The Killers and I like Gorillaz. You have probably listened to more artists that aren't household names, but I wouldn't know since no curve balls were thrown.

However, I am not one to talk as I have inconsistent tastes that people will either cheer or boo at me liking, such as Aphex Twin, µ-Ziq, Squarepusher, Boards of Canada, 808 State, Brian Eno, Supertramp, The Mars Volta, King Crimson, Radiohead, Vivian Girls, Nujabes, DJ Shadow, DJ Technorch, Girl Talk, David Bowie, m-flo, Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, etc.

Some of these people are universally praised, while others will start arguments faster than a spark in a room filled with explosive gas and gasoline on the floor. Although being too mainstream isn't very good, going for somewhat obscure stuff (depending on where you live) isn't music better. Likewise with only listening to highly acclaimed artists. You miss out on too much if you limit yourself to whatever is at FYE, anything that Pitchfork slaps a "hipster approved" sticker on, or the masters at the genres they worked to reinvent from yesteryear.

The thing about musical tastes is that it only reaches an end the moment you give up looking for more music. I fancied myself to be a "classic rock fan" until I got off my ass and checked out almost everything Richard has put out, including unreleased material. Now I'm more of an ambient techno, drill n'bass, prog rock who also loves checking out experimental music kind of guy.

Can I ask..Why do you need our approval of yourtaste?

People tell my taste( http://www.last.fm/user/MalevolentJim ) sucks all the time. It's not going to actually change what I like.So why do you need our opinions?
Some bands in your library i dislike, but you have Tom Waits, Neurosis, Alcest and Opeth, Immolation, Triptykon, Black Sabbath and Sadus, and some others.

Therefore, i think your taste is pretty awesome, and people saying Tom Waits, Black Sabbath or above mentioned bands is bad taste? Thats wrong.

Not really,since metal isn't being killed.More.... cattle-prodded.
Also not sure what you mean by that.. :p

Thanks! =D

And by cattle-prodded I meant that metal was violently damaged(blame Bullet For My Failentine,Five Finger Death Punch and H.I.M). Sorry for the lack of clarity :p

There are only three exceptions;

1) Justin Bieber (The worst music ever, no matter what you like...if you like this then your opinion is invalid.

2) Anything involving Maynard (The best music ever, if you don't think so then your opinion is also invalid)

3) Brokencyde.
I fixed it.

OP: Don't let people judge. I love The Killers too, but alot of my friends do not. Do I give two shits? Not really. Because at this point in life, I'll basically listen to anything.

Oh, and back to quote: What's a Maynard? I feel so musically oblivious.

Maynard is the front man for TOOL, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer.
