It looks fun, and I like the series enough to the point where even Absolution had its fun moments. But with this newest game, it sounds like quite a few people's experiences have been soured by the "always online" aspect. Frequent server disconnections have made the game a pain to play and enjoy, because it literally ends your play sessions??

If that's really the case, then how can they even get away with releasing something like this. Why did they have to rely so heavily on online factors? Worst case they could have all the missions, challenges, etc. available offline, and then synced with the server at some point to keep player progress up to date if connections are unstable.

It's really sad that gaming is headed in such a volatile direction.

I know I'm not getting it. I loved Bloodmoney, and though it was too linear, I still overall enjoyed Absolution, but I am gonna pass on this one sadly, cause fuck that. I was so excited when they directly addressed Absolution's flaws...and replaced it with tons of far worse flaws. I guess Hitman is sneaky like that since the trailer for the last movie did the same, where it opened in a way where I thought it might actually be a good -Hitman- movie, but then it turns into explosions and daytime middle of street gunfights.

Literally, go and look at some gameplay videos. It is pretty much a perfected blood money, though with some concessions to ease those who came in with absolution or even the movies. The worst thing about the game is that, at launch, it had some really stupid stuff like restricted graphics (it would auto sense) and always online drm that differentiated online and offline saves. Those have been fixed. It is fantastic, beautiful, and quite stealthy. And, worse comes to worse, steam offers refunds.

If you're really itching to play the game, I'd recommend getting Paris intro pack, if you're the kind of player who'll keep playing the same mission but doing it more creatively each time its value for money. Its a really great game, that surpasses Blood Money in several ways, and the game is actually about sandbox assassination missions rather than linear cinematic gameplay segments.

However I can't really recommend buying the whole thing, its not just the online issues, but also a lack of polish and missing gameplay features. Square and IO lied to us from the beginning, conveniently hiding the always on requirement, and saying this game isn't 'early access' when it so clearly is.

The smart move is to wait, you'll actually get a polished experience and hopefully once the live content is over (the live content is very underwhelming, contracts mode is underdeveloped and escalations get boring quickly and the most promising live content feature, elusive targets, has been heavily delayed) the always online requirement will be unjustifiable and removed. If you're a die hard fan of this series, and you really want to play the Intro Pack is the best thing to do in my opinion.

Really? So if you play offline now it will still save your progress? If so that's a very promising sign. Does it just sync to the server to update your progress like I mentioned or something else?

Having said that, I probably will wait for the full release, which will likely have even more fixes and a price drop at the right time on Steam. In the meantime I'll run through the series again; hell maybe even including Absolution.
