Oh, and not Oblivion and Morrowind, generally because there is always enough torches on the walls to let you see where you're going, and that usable torches are plentiful.
Yes, there were torches in the caves and underground caverns but a lot of the enemies would tend to lurk in the shadows. It's not like the torches were bright as the morning sun anyway. Also, if i remember correctly there is a mission at the bottom of a lake and it was pitch black by the time i finished it. I couldn't have done it without my trusty magic NVGs.
