NO! Absolutely not! Send me a PM and I'll send you an invite for a 21 day trial for EVE Online. You should at least try it out before you even consider getting sucked into that piece of s*** called WoW. As I've said before, playing WoW is like cutting yourself. It's stupid and it hurts you more than anything else you can think of, but for whatever reason, you just can't stop. Don't get started with WoW. Ever.

I found WoW funner than Eve Online.

Well... Compared to EVE Online, WoW IS like cutting yourself. So my point still stands. You're right, it's not evil incarnate, but it's still horrible compared to EVE.
See.. it's this kind of attitude that gives EVE Online fans that bad name. What you're doing looks like the work of a fake pop-preacher who tries to shove faith down someone's throat.
First of all *IF* the OP is one of the minority (let's be honest with ourselves here) of people who can enjoy EVE, he'll appreciate it even more after trying WoW. Secondly, WoW is a very good MMO, just totally different from EVE. I like EVEO much better but I also have a WoW account and I'm not running around dissing Warcraft.

WoW is the easiest MMO I've ever played and because of that it's not a problem to get started. If you play hardcore you'll be max level in no time and even if you don't you will be max level eventually.

As for EVE, that game takes a lot of time and work to play. Neither of which do I have to spare.

I've been wandering the exact same thing as the OP recently. I've been really getting into games recently and have a lot of free time, so I decided it could be worth at least trying an MMO. The one I most liked the sound of was Warhammer Online, but I've been thinking that maybe it is best to start with WoW, but I've heard so much shit about how Death Knights have killed the balance, how it's nothing but grind, how all the stuff they've patched in or included in expansions is dumb etc. etc. etc.

Reading this thread really hasn't brought me any closer to a conclusion. I may just have to bite the bullet and get a WoW trial.

I've played a few MMOs, including City of Villaons, Age of Conan and Warhammer, and I keep going back to WoW. My recommendation is to play with a friend. The WOW community (as well as other mmo communities too) can be quite intolerant of beginners, so having access to someone who knows a few things can be a godsend.

You really heard wrong. Death Knights are fine, WoW is pretty grind-light, and the expansions only make it better. Nostalgia is a powerful thing :p

As for OP: Sure, give it a try. The new content is the best it's ever been.

If you plan on playing it regularly, then you'll blast through everything pretty quick. It's very accessible now, so this expansion would be the best time to join if you're into that.

if you like end game material then you would probably like WoW, however if your more into PvP then Warhammer Online would be more your style. a lot of people will say "WAR suck", but they probably haven't played it recently. they have improved a lot of things performance wise and the game play is a lot smoother than what it used to be. biggest plus imo is east coast maintenance time :)

I will never find out if its good or not if you never try it.

I tried Age Of Conan 1 month, and i dint like it. End of story.

Personally i dont play WoW. I did play through one quest at lvl 60 on my freinds acc and that was accually quite fun. But getting there is another story.

I second that!
But all grinding aside, I like the character and world designs.
Once you get to the higher levels ... and the Death Knight availability, it can become quite fun!

After reading all of your replies, I am going to try a few things before resorting to WoW. Im going to try EVE first, and see if I like it. If I dont, i think il try FFXI, and if that doesnt work out, then WoW it is.

you wont be lonley in the lower levels so if you really want to sell your soul to Blizzard then i'm not gonna stop you.

but i think its just nerdy waste of time if you don't already have friends to play with.

I played WoW for a long time and got pretty much to the top of the game. In the end its not worth playing unless your ready to invest countless hours of effort into the game. There are very few people that are just starting out these days, so finding a party below level 45 is like pulling teeth. If you don't understand something, almost no one will stop to help you because they're too busy getting their Almighty Shining Dildo of Honor or whatever. Its a game for fanatics, and its designed specifically to make you into one. Not to mention that most people are on their second expansion by now, so by the time you do actually make it to the original level 60 cap, you will be rewarded by paying another 30 bucks. The only times that ever experienced a high level character helping was when they needed an achievement ad I happened to be nearby at the time, letting me tag along for the ride. However, if you have local or "real" friends that play, you can have a really good time playing with them, like the game used to be... *sigh*

I don't know if now is the best time, I've heard the death knight has made things pretty unbalanced. Coarse you won't have to deal with that for awhile but still.

There will never, ever, be an end to warcraft.

They have a policy of "infinite expansions"

You have to start somewhere, you have to start some time.
what better place than here. what better time than now.

HUAH!
