@OP: No, it's not it poor taste. You're not claiming any political ties, and truth is truth no matter who says it. For example, Hitler also made true comments on how to seize political power (go after the kids, not the adults). Admitting that someone who was a horrible person in many levels is right on some points should not automatically make you anathema.

I think the Russians, at least from a commanders standpoint, had the highest disregard for death.
The Zap Brannigan approach if you will:
"The killbots? A trifle. I knew they all had a built-in kill limit. It was simply a matter of sending wave after wave of men at them until they reached their limit and shut-down."
Just have to point out the quote is dated May 1941, Germany didn't invade Russia until the following month.
I imagine he wouldn't have had good things to say about the Russians, though. They did kind of wipe out most of the German army.

Why is it that everyone tries to invade Russia during the winter? THAT NEVER WORKS.

Dude convinced an entire nation to go to war against the world because a small number of their population were being slightly greedy.

Regardless of how "evil" or "bad" he was, if you don't admit that he was a great man, well... You're deluding yourself.
It isn't that he's a great man. He was highly incompetent and the British actually stopped trying to assassinate him once they realized that he was more detrimental to Germany's war effort than they could ever be.

He was probably the best public speaker to ever live, though. Which is impressive, because he was just a painter...

I'm assuming you're (of) Greek (descent) then.

Its a pretty odd use of it, so whilst its not firmly filed under 'Poor Taste', I'd maybe throw into, 'could you really not find anyone else with a quote about the Greeks?'

People quote Mao Zedong all the time, and he caused far more deaths than Hitler ever did. Hitler was the frontman for a party run by German Aristcrats, his only exceptional trait being that he was a very good orator. He wasn't a brilliant strategist, he was a crap painter and an even worse chancellor. It shows how incredibly good the allied propaganda was that we still think of him as the root of all evil.

Mao Zedong (You may know him as Chairman Mao) lead the People's Republic of China from 1943 to 1976, during which time he is thought to have caused upwards of 40,000,000 deaths. His most famous quote goes something along the lines of:

"Fear not the enemy you despise, fear the enemy you respect."

Hitler is not the worst man every to have lived, and its high time we let go of that notion and focussed on more modern problems.

It's not about the "who", it's about the "what". Nothing wrong with that quote, even if it is Hitler's. If you quoted him in regards to Jew baking, that could be seen, by some, as being in poor taste. This, however, is not.

Why are Nazi's such a taboo anyway? It's been almost 70 years, I think it's time to shed this irrational fear and start being more objective about this. No one would think of condemning you for quoting Richard the Lionheart, despite him being a warmongering racist that executed POWs. Hell you could apply this to almost everyone that came before the Renaissance.

Get off mein nuts, dummkopf! - Adolf Hitler
No, there's nothing wrong with quoting Hitler. There is something wrong with throwing racists stuff around though. Who cares if you quoted Adolf or King Arthur. Hell, if someone gets upset at you for quoting someone whose killed tons of people, ask them if quoting the Bible is just as bad.

Furthermore.

I disagree... I am in the UK military, and have looked into his Leadership style and how he conducted his speeches on a proffessional level during my Leadership and Management degree, and he was an exceptionally clever man, he just had a strange set of values and ideals that dont sit well with our modernised version of life!

He was also a murderous bastard! :p

OT: Based on my above view, there is nothing wrong with quoting him, just make sure the context conveys what you want it to, and that it is relevent to what you are trying to portray!

Well, depends on context. Hitler had many traits to be admired, you can't achieve anything really terrible without some of the qualities you need to do anything really good. However, the morally wrong tends to overshadow the politically clever for obvious reasons, and quoting Hitler tends to imply something about your character

However, I'd check for a source on that quote. Every nation seems to acquire a number of quotes by famous people explaining why they are the best ever nation, and quite a few of these are questionable.

You know I heard einstein was a real prick when he was younger. Heard he made my brother fred trip once, just because he could. So if you ever quote him again, I'll kick you in the balls.

Though I'm not really all that nationalistic, I was reading a book and stumbled on this quote so I shared it on facebook. I wrote this on my Facebook wall

"For the sake of historical truth I must verify that only the Greeks, of all the adversaries who confronted us, fought with bold courage and highest disregard of death."
-Adolf Hitler, Reichstag, 4 May 1941
Is it in poor taste?
Does this make me pro-hitler?

Potential employers often do look at your Facebook and other public online information. Personally, I think it would be idiotic to quote Hitler, especially if you are looking for a job. Is there something relevant or inspirational about that particular quote? Not really. Usually, when I see someone quoting Hitler, they have some neo-nazi/white supremacist leanings. Because most other people find it in bad taste to be quoting Hitler publicly. It's not necessarily right, but just be careful about what you say online. It can easily come back to haunt you later.

It's questionable. I think it is a bit in poor taste, but it certainly doesn't make you a Nazi or Pro-Hitler. I just don't think an employer would see this as a positive thing to have on your Facebook. It's not necessarily a bad quote per se, it's just the fact that it's Hitler, and he has a pretty bad image, you know? It's highly possible someone will take it the wrong way, and you just don't want to have that person be someone who might hire you.

Quoting Caligula doesn't make me a mass murderer, and quoting Napoleon doesn't make me a great conquerer. So it rather depends on what you are quoting, not the person from who it came.

I like to quote Hitler a lot. Mainly for he purposes of showing Christians, that he was indeed also Christian.

I dont find anything wrong with quoting Hitler. It is all about the context and the quote though. The OP's quote is great. And i would most of all consider yourself Greek if i just read it on your Page, not a Nazi.

I don't think it's wrong to quote Hitler, but you have to get the context right for fear of upsetting people and getting yourself flamed!

He was without doubt an intelligent person, and one of the great public speakers of the 20th Century. It is also without doubt that he was an obsessed, sadistic man. Quotes from Hitler therefore give people pause for thought when they knew the kind of person who spoke them, and that does have an effect...
