Is quoting Hitler in poor taste?

I don't think people who cares to rationally think things through the slightess will be offended. The respnoses so far speaks for this as well.

But be warned, some people (noone in specific, just to make that clear) will see the word Hitler, and disregard all sorts of context, unless you're speaking of him in a negative way, and judge you as a nazi sympathizer without careing to think about what you actually wrote.

Though I'm not really all that nationalistic, I was reading a book and stumbled on this quote so I shared it on facebook. I wrote this on my Facebook wall

Logically there is nothing wrong with that quote, for all the reasons people have said, However, emotionally there is everything wrong with quoting Hitler on your Facebook page, and because people will react to this more with their hearts and feelings than their reason and logic, you will probably be seen in a bad light.

When you quote a famous person you elevate them to an intellectual level above yourself, saying "This guy said this, I agree with his views on this subject and think we can all learn from it" This is not the image you want to give out on Facebook, so you need to put some context into the quote, maybe just explaining how you like the quote, or framing it properly so people can see you are just interested in the subject of the quote and not the ideals of the man who said it.

I don't know how an employer would react, but if you work in a large company, where all your superiors are faceless and unknown then it's best to not risk it, as if one of them takes it the wrong way you won't get a chance to explain yourself. Potential employers will also see it as a bad sign in a potential employee, because of the taboo of using Hitler to express your ideas.

I would say either don't bother posting it, or at the very least give it some clear context and a note about not agreeing with Hitler, but liking what this quote says about your people.

3. No, unless you actually are a Nazi, sharing the same political and social beliefs

5. Probably poorly, people see the word hitler and thing of satan, go figure.

Quoting some one does not make you that person or even have anything to do with person.

Here are few example:

"Blood for the Blood God" - A follower of Khorne. Nope still me.
"The answers to life?s problems aren?t at the bottom of a bottle, they?re on TV!" -Simpson, Homer .....nope not yellow and fat

I could go on but yeah my point is don't stress about it, quoting someone does not mean you convert to their way of thinking. Just chill man.

The quote itself seems in pretty poor taste. I wonder why everyone is okay with saying that all the non-Axis WWII veterans didn't fight with bold courage. At least those who fought prior to 1941. Oh and of course all the WWI veterans. And whoever fought Germany prior to that...

Greece wasn't axis... and it was prior and before 1941.

Yes, it makes you a nazi and a blemish to the world! Lol, nah i don't think it makes you a Nazi at all. However an employer might just see the name "Hitler" and take a negative look to you.
