The same could be said the otherway around. are our expectations so high that nothing could ever be good because its not made by a "popular" developer like Bungie, Bioware, or Infinity Ward?Duffeknol said:It really just looks like a slightly above-average shooter. Are our expectations so low nowadays that a game like Rage is hailed like some sort of Messiah just because it's made by Id and the gameplay looks 'alright'?
Could you elaborate a bit further?Ghostkai said:I played it today at Eurogamer, it does not suck.RyanDodd said:Okay, so I love fallout 3 and New vegas, and have seen many other gamers compare RAGE to those games.
I would be more than happy to have a fallout clone to keep me tied over till the next fallout comes out, but I'm definitely on the
fence about Rage, yes its by ID Software the creators of the first person shooter (before romero and carmack split, carmack giving us endless
sequels to game franchises, romero giving us ugh 'Daikatana' but also giving us inadvertently 'Deux Ex' but that is another topic)
Anyway what do you think, will RAGE suck, or will ID deliver a shooter with more soul to it than the bland corrider shooters it's been pumping out for the last decade?
I realise this may seem a loaded topic, but bear in mind I'm a fan of ID, and of Fallout so would love to see RAGE be a good game.
In fact, it's pretty damn good.
I know, I was surprised too.
Well, depends what kind of a disaster. Maybe Doom 3 was not an economical disaster, but it was a horrible game. Justin Bieber is profitable as well I guess, but I would not call him a musical prodigy based on that...Still Life said:Doom 3 sold well and was received well. ID has given Rage a lot of depth in its gameplay from I've seen, heard and read. Also, helps that it looks stunning.
There are no comparisons that can be drawn from F3, really. The similarities end with 'post-apocalyptic'.

Imo Doom 3 sucked, and ID hasnt produced anything worth my time since Quake 2, and nothing fantastic since Doom 2. They are dead to me![]()
