Is rape worse than torture?

The question I ask here is: is a rapist who worse than someone who takes people to the limits of pain for pleasure (non-sexual).

PS I'm not trying to trivialise either of these things. As always, keep the discussion civil.

I always considered them rather equal.

Both are also a personal experience so it's hardly appropriate for me to judge wich of the two is worse, unless I've actually experienced both. Which I hope to never do.

Rape is a form of physical and mental torture so they both include each other kind of invalidating your question at least that's how I see it.More to the point who cares they are both horrific acts why the need to know which one most people consider worse?

Considering they're not necessarily mutually exclusive and there are many different kinds of torture...

I'm sure I can come up with a scenario where I'd gladly take the torture instead and another where I'd prefer a prolapsed anus.

Worse is subjective and can only be quantified on an individual level so the question can't really be answered.

I would think most forms of torture are worse than rape, however having experienced neither I'm just making a supposition.

I think something more insidious that those two is child molestation. I've known an alarming number of women who have been molested as children and it has scarred them both mentally and physically into their adulthood. It's worse than murder, because at least when someone's dead they stop suffering.

Assuming we are talking about date rape or something very similar, torture is way worse. If you don't believe me, go watch the the Hostel movies or the Saw movies and tell me that you don't think that is worse than rape.

Here I was thinking rape was a form of torture...

And it depends on whose being tortured, some people actually find pleasure in it. My evidence being from this one guy I won't mention...

But it's got to be torture that's worse overall.

It's essentially a form of torture, with the added sexual dimension that's also going to be very psychologically damaging. So it's worse than some forms of torture, not as bad as others, I guess.
