I played Halo once, for about ten minutes. I thought it was terrible. Then a while later a friend of mine turned me on to Red vs Blue. Although I think Halo sucks, I do apprecaite it's creation because without it I would have never been able to enjoy a great and hilrious 8 seasons. (9 starting soon)

I would rather play Halo as one of the characters from Red V Blue. The storyline is better, the dialogue is better, the characters are better and the voice acting is top notch. None of these things can actually be said about Halo.

If there was a Red vs Blue campaign in Halo Reach, I would likely go buy an Xbox.
Are you trolling?

Play the game for more than ten minutes, then maybe I will take your opinion more seriously.
I played through the entire first game, start to finish.
I also thought it sucks.

Red V Blue is pretty good from what I've seen. I should check it out again at some stage...

You strike me as one of those people that have sex only once, sex which last for 5-10 minutes and is so awkward that they forever denounce it. Then they switch to porn and claim it is the best thing ever, never changing their opinion about the real thing even though their only experience with it was way too little to make proper judgment about it. And so they jerk off in all eternity, never getting laid again.

Why yes, I did insinuate that you are terrible in bed. That's what I do

Also, Red VS Blue is fun. For a while. Then it gets a bit boring. Then fun again. Then it makes no sense
Best. Analogy. EVER

OT: I thought the thing most people like about Halo was the multiplayer. Although I did used to watch RvB.

I don't know if you should judge a game off ten minutes but I do agree that RvB is the best Halo-related project out there. They also do RT Shorts, Achievement Hunter, Halo:Reach 'Fails' and 'Horse' (A game they created. They also created Grifball.) and have a pretty good comic. Seriously, This company is awesome.

Have you not seen the newer seasons? Admittedly season 5 gets kind of stale but 6-8 come back around, also gettting Monty Youm (Creator of Haloid and Dead Fantasy) as a part of their regular team to do action sequences, it's really fantastic imo.

Red vs Blue was the only reason I wanted to buy an xbox and get into HALO. I do like the HALO universe but if not for RVB I would be completely indifferent.

Yeah, Halo, while being very good at what it does, strikes me as a tad overrated. Red vs. Blue is without a shadow of a doubt the most entertaining Halo related product out there.

That said I sorta drifted off around season 4.

You know what's not awesome? The site's community. Seriously, its so damn boring. and No one ever reads anything you comment, unless you're one of the guys with the good jokes in the first "page". And if you post a sub-par joke they will -ve mod you to death and back.

Other than that, Yeah the RT guys themselves are a fucking awesome group of guys (and a girl).

OT: Apples and Oranges, man. RvB is awesome. Halo is good in it's own right. To say that one is "better" than the other makes no sense.

No offence, but although I accept your opinion on Red vs Blue (though I've never seen it myself, though I am planning to when I have the time), I completely denounce your post for the sheer fact that you formed an opinion of an entire game after just ten minutes. Ten minutes is not enough time to get interested in ANYTHING, let alone a twelve-hour video game. I will only take you seriously, therefore, if you were to actually play the game for more than ten minutes, and then make an actually valid, informed opinion on the game. I couldn't care less if you like the game or not, though I like it myself I'm fine if other people don't. Each to his/her own and all that. But if you refuse to give something more than the most cursory of glances before forming an opinion, then that's just as bad as having an opinion with no experience whatsoever, if not worse.

TL;DR: Go and play for maybe an hour or so, then make a fair opinion, for good or bad. Then I, and others, take your post a lot more seriously.

On topic, then: I've not seen Red vs Blue, so I can't comment on that, though I have heard good things, enough to pique my interest and make me want to watch it when I have some more free time at some point. Regarding the games, I'd say there are some really good things, like the story - it's so much more nuanced and better written and developed than the standard generic 'space marine shooter kills aliens' story. Everything from the Forerunners to the Covenant Schism builds up together and makes for a much more engaging story than most shooters. You actually care about the supporting characters, like Johnson and Keyes (both father and daughter). And it has Nathan Fillion and the Firefly cast voicing ODSTs, for Offler's sake! How can that not make something awesome, huh?!?

I love RoosterTeeth and RvB is awesome. However, I really enjoyed the single player story and gameplay of Halo 1 through 3 (only). Plus it gave us the Arbiter who I find to be all kinds of awesome.

Although the COMPLETELY OBSESSIVE FANBASE is really getting on my nerves.

That is actually a very good point, especially if the guy didn't know how to play.

It seems I'm in a minority opinion here but I think Red vs Blue is totally overrated. I remember watching it years ago and thinking it was hilarious. Recently I tried to watch some more though and its just childish sillyness.

As for the best thing about Halo, that's a no brainer. It's the multiplayer, by such a long way it's silly.
1) Try watching this [http://redvsblue.com/archive/?id=1344]. Chief never did anything like that.
2) Halo multiplayer did not come out of Halo. It is definitively inside Halo.
3) There is also Grifball.
4) I like making lists.
5) "That was the worst (blank) ever... of all time. [http://redvsblue.com/archive/?id=292]"
6) ...
7) Profit! (yay meme points!)

OT: Halo was OK. Halo 2 was better. Halo 3 was... the "deleted scenes" disc from Halo 2.
RVB is the first and easily best "nonstandard" use of Halo, and even Bungie admitted that Halo might not have been as big without them.
(By putting them in Halo 3, for example).

Also: Did you know there is a whole industry based around these "video games [http://redvsblue.com/archive/?id=1340]"? *shock!*

Burnie points to some really good stuff in his journal though, now that you mention it.

I played Dues eX machina once for about 30 minutes thought it was terrible
played Portal for an hour thought it was boring
played Cod for 10 minutes and thought it was good.

I replayed all of those again, for much longer time frames and my opinion changed.
What im saying is, you should probably have given it a better chance than just 10 minutes and you might have found something else you enjoy.

OT:
RvB is not the best thing about Halo,
Forge is the best thing.

There are your problems right there.

You have no right to condemn a game that you have only played 10 minutes of. In fact when I first played Halo, the first 10 minutes confused me and I may have even felt the same as you about it, thinking it was rubbish. But I gave it a chance and now the whole series is one of my favourite.

Plus, it's easy to resent a game you're not very good at. Again, playing it more and giving it a chance can help you out no end. I'd be able to accept your arguments a lot easier if you'd played at least one Halo game all the way through and had some constructive criticisms.

10 minutes is more than enough to time to get the jist of how Halo works. It's not exactly a complex game.

If the first 10 minutes of a movie suck - nobody is going to fault you for walking out.
If the first 10 bites of a steak make you nauseous - nobody is going to fault you for sending your steak back.

Can we PLEASE stop using the "LOL U NOT LIEK GAEM CUZ U SUCK AT IT N00B" argument?

Agreed entirely. I've tried every HALO which has come out several times and every one was more of the same, tired uninteresting experience to me. No, I didn't play for just ten minutes, I spent the customary gamer night on each one with several friends, most of them either on or shortly after release night. No, I don't 'just hate FPS's'. I like many FPS's, but HALO has never been interesting to me, a tired retreaded story, a near-faceless Doom-Marine clone of a leading man, limited weapons, practically a corridor run shooter experiance, it's just not pulling me in. To me, it's easily the most overrated game series of this generation.

A HALO game which was a permutation of RvsB would be an interesting twist, certainly, one I would probably buy. Not to say I find RvsB to be flawless comedy or anything, just entertaining and more interesting than yet another same-ey HALO game. Loads of humor, better characters, much more interesting and varied plot, all around I could finally have a HALO game I'd care about.

I'll always like Halo for giving us the Rooster Teeth guys. Genuinely are a group of very funny and talented guys- plus opened up things like machinima to a wider audience. Their podcast, The Drunk Tank, is a good weekly listen to, as well.

That said, I would not say it's the only good thing about Halo. Halo is a fun game to play with your mates, what's so wrong with that? So much hate over what is just an ultimately fun game to play, with later iterations having even more options for fun things to do with things like Forge alone.
