I found having Leon to make the game not scary, playing as Chris Redfield made RE scary, but Leon is too strong a character.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing by the way, Leon sweats awesome.
Yep, I agree with you. There were sequences which genuinely scared me, and they were generally the ones where Leon's overpowered or outmatched, like the U3 (Saddler: I'd like to introduce you to "it"), or Salazar's right hand.

Great game, most likely the only game from last-gen that I would ever think of picking up and playing again a few years down the road. It was just such a refreshing change of pace from all of the other games I was playing at the time. I've played through it 3+ times, never gets old. Now that is saying something. It's a long game too!

ok ok, i take it back, that was fucking scary as hell. I'm not proud to admit I didn't blink through that entire scene, because if I blinked it would be there*!.

*in my fucking face!

It's a damn nightmare in Pro Mode. I haven't got to the U3 yet, but I've done the right hand, which took me goddamn loads of tries.

Its a sublime game. At least the gameplay and graphics is. Great boss fights, sharp controls. It may be not the scariest game out there, but its still pretty scary and at the same time has entertaining gameplay. Not a lot of games have both those things. The story is entertaining no matter how cheesy it is. Also it has variety.

All I can say for RE4 is that I liked the gameplay. It was very fun I'll admit and agree with that, but I hated everything else. OK by everything else I mean the characters and plot. I hated Leon for becoming a stereotype, I hated Ashley for being annoying, I never saw why we needed Ada back. Everyone likes Luis, but the most we know abotu his is that he's the most badass chemist I've ever seen. That's it, I saw nothing else beneath that. Krauser only added unexplained back story to Leon and compared to the Resident Evils..... that story was shit. It's been a long while since I last played so I did forget it (it also might be the cold I have screwing with my brain), but all I do remember is that I had a million questions and a million complaints. However the gameplay was fun and new, the graphics were good for the Gamecube, but the story was so bad I really couldn't stand to play it again. Not to mention it feels like they pushed the original story aside to make way for a completely new one. But of course this is all just my opinion.

I play through this game at least once a year. Never gets old and always presents a challenge. Good graphics in the progressive scan mode and I like the RPG elements. Sort of like Ratchet and Clank in a way. The action/RPG thing, I mean. There is very little enemy variety - ranging pretty much between small groups of ganados and large groups of ganados. ;) But I just can't help but love it. The dialogue is delightfully cheesy, in a Napoleon Dynamite kind of way, and the wierd bosses make each one a challenge. Once you have beaten the game once though, the bosses actually pose very little challenge, as you have already learned their achilles heel by that point.

Overall a great game. One of my most memorable games when I think back through all my years of gaming.

I am on my first playthrough of resident evil 4 on the wii and is it still a good game compared to games like Left4Dead and Gears Of War 2?
I'm not a big fan of Resident Evil 4. I'm not a big Left4Dead fan either though. I personally think Gears of War 2 is a lot more fun because it's got more action.

I'd even go so far as to say that Resident Evil 4 was one of my most satisfying game experiences in my life. Definitely worth playing.
