No, people who steal software are evil, he is a buisness man.
Who says businessmen can't be evil? In fact I'd assume it to be a requirement.

If I was an interviewer I certainly wouldn't be accepting businessmen with morals. How on earth would we make a sizeable profit?

(to be sung to the tune of Mr. Grinch. Sorry I worked 20 minutes on this.)

You're a mean one, Mr. Kotick.
You are greedy and slithery and vile.
You sacked the staff of Infinity Ward,
you raise their prices up, Mr. Kotick.

Every game you touch seems to turn to a big purple pile.

You're a bad one, Mr. Kotick.
You maintain an atmosphere of fear.
If Hitler made out with Lex Luthor
You'd be their bastard child, Mr. Kotick.

You're poor tactics make Electronic Arts look like a Ro-man God.

You're a bastard, Mr. Kotick.
You will run your business to the ground.
Your sequels are all so terrible,
do you even play your own games, Mr. Kotick?

You're more capital and bureaucratic than Scientology and the Kremlin combined.
I just sang this along with "You're a mean one Mr. Grinch". It is awesome *round of applause*. But yeah, this basically sums up what I think of Mr. Kotick. To me - he is evil. A blight upon the gaming word. In my opinion.

He's a greedy douche, yes. Dunno about evil, though.
For him to be truly evil, he'll have to go after other companies and attempt to assimilate them in a very aggressive manner.

I don't think he's evil per se, but he is a douche, a douche who comes out with some of the best lines in history for people to go 'he did NOT just say that, did he?', but a douche none the less. :p

I think it's kind of funny how much hate he gets. I mean, even by business standards he's pretty tame. How many companies outsource most of their labor to other countries so they can pay their employees less? Or cut most corners in manufacturing products that there's eventually several deaths and a product recall? As far as I know Kotick has never done any of these things. Perhaps if he was a CEO of a different type of company he would, but then he also wouldn't get much hate anyways.

Yes.. He's the stereotypical nostril-fuck-the-hell-out-of-consumers-who-will-*****-and-moan-yet-still-put-down-money-for-their-products businessman.

I just read about the Bungie and Activision deal and started to read about Robert Kotick and what he has done and is doing. I was shocked at the things he has said so my question is is he evil or just a greedy people hater?
He once told a story where the sheriffs came to repossess his companies' stuff in the 80's, and an employee tricked the sheriffs into taking something much less expensive, which let the company survive. Even though this was a crime, Bobby never reported it until after the statute of limitations passed.

Another employee in Japan sold videogame rights to franchises even when they had no rights, such as Knight Rider. Again, Bobby knew of it and did nothing to stop it.

In conclusion, I think Bobby Kotick is evil, but it's partially not his fault. His entire damn company was full of criminals and assholes who lied, broke the law, and hurt innocent people to get ahead. He probably saw it so much he came to the conclusion that it was okay to do these things.

It was an entire company built on the belief that it's okay to do *anything* to get ahead. Even breaking the law.

EDIT: Many people on this thread are making the same mistake Bobby himself makes- you are assuming since many people in Corporate America do this, it's not evil. Just because many people are doing it does not make it "okay" or for that matter, "non-evil."

Tell me this isn't evil:

He used to be the CEO of 4Kids. I think he's the monster responsible for bringing Pokeymanns to America.

Greed is just another facet of evil, so yeah he is. Not absolute, pure evil like, say, Ed Gein, but still reprehensible enough to be a loathsome little shit.

No, it's just that he talks and thinks like a businessman. The thing is, what he says is often being said to investors or bankers or people who generally want to know that their money is safe. These things are then quoted by gamers and they believe he is evil. He is using business terms. BUSINESS TERMS!
