Is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky playable yet?

(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum; wasn't sure where else to put it)

I played Clear Sky a long time ago and absolutely loved it for the most part. The immersion was great and the squad-based combat was fun. But the game was waaay too buggy for me to keep playing. Kept crashing and lagging and the AI would screw up and whole missions wouldn't be beatable... just awful.

Is the game fully fixed and playable yet if I buy it on Steam (since they're doing the summer sale and it's mega-cheap)? Like, will the official patches they've released do the job adequately?

If not, is it NECESSARY to get user-made mods and fixes?

I just grabbed the STALKER series on Steam, playing Clear Sky right now and no problems.

Win7 x64, Intel Q6600, 6gb RAM, GTX 560Ti 2GB

If thyere was patches, they'll be n Steam. Not played clear sky, but shadow of chernobyl seemed to work perfectly on my comp.

Clear Sky is still the buggiest of the 3 but it's much better than it was.

My advice though, quicksave every single time you do something nice, like taking on 5 guys with a lousy shotgun or navigating an anomaly field, the game still crashes often.

It's a pity, it's a really awesome game.By the way if you're like me and really liked the faction wars thing you can mod the game.I'm currently using "The faction war 3.7" and loving it, it removes the story and turns the game into a rts-fps with ressource and spawning points, radio call reinforcements, your own squad, etc... really nice

well yes and no , the game is still 50% levels that didn?t make it into shadow of Chernobyl and those levels are still the most buggy .

the S.T.A.L.K.E.R complete mode fixed up most of the bugged quests and crashes but it?s still the most unstable stalker game

What this dude said, I had several troubles playing it vanilla, but when i played it through again with the complete mod - Flawless.


Also, It adds cars!
