Title pretty much says it all. I see 2 groups of bandits and a dragon and I know I'll be able to down all of them in about 10 seconds with my swords, without losing any health. Upping the difficulty makes the game unrealistic, a warhammer to the face should kill someone. Anyone else having this problem?

Isn't destroying a gang of bandits and a dragon without losing health unrealistic?

Just up the difficulty, nothing wrong with that.

Nope, if I see two groups of bandits and a dragon I know I will either A.) Have a tough fight on my hands or B.) Be raging at my game for being a dick.

Hell no. If you're good enough to avoid getting hit a lot, up the difficulty.

Also, on one side you're complaining about winning easily, but then if you up the difficulty you say you don't like how you can't oneshot everything.

...What?

My sister is new to RPGs (PC games in general) and she hasn't died yet (except for a giant and it's pet mammoth), but she's on novice. I'm on novice as well and have died a few times. It's a little easy, but it's not frustratingly easy. I could up the difficulty if I wanted and make it more of a challenge.

I believe they mean that they'd rather the one-shotting experience go both ways: He can stab someone once or twice and they'll go down, but they can do the same thing to him. Sadly, with the way Bethesda games work, you generally have to choose one at the expense of the other.

I mean, I could maybe see a mod that makes this work, but it'd be pretty in-depth and probably wouldn't be out until a while after the tools are released.

The game has weird difficulty spikes... some bandits can be leveled quickly, and some other times, I get attacked by 3 of them and I'm dead in a few hits

If you can one shot all your humanoid enemies then you must have it on extremely easy difficulty setting. Yeah, it's unrealistic to need to hit them any more times than that, but it's also unrealistic to find eleven armour on the corpse of a dead wolf. That's RPGs for you.

If it wasn't a problem with your difficulty setting, it's probably just that you were questing in a low level area. Everything around Whiterun is pretty simple, and generally speaking, things get progressively more challenging the farther you travel from Whiterun, although it's not QUITE as simple as that, but you get the general idea.

Depends on the character, if like me you planned out your character deliberately to maximise everything possible then yes the game is too easy, even on Master I can kill Dragon priests like Krosis with little trouble.

No, the game difficulty spiked for me based on my skill choices.

I found the game to be quite difficult and died frequently up until around level 25. At this point I managed to get some great armor via smithing for my Paladin class and the game became relatively easy. I'm level 34 now and I've reached a groove where the only things that challenge me are casters.

I'd say the difficulty is solid as is...though I did play the hardest class in the game. Had I played a pure mage or a stealth bowman I'd have found the game much easier and likely have upped the difficulty.

I wish raising the difficulty made enemies do more damage, but die faster as well. (Or at the same rate they normally do, giving them extra health and more damage simply isn't fun) It's not fair if enemy become damage sponges while you can hardly take a few hits from them. That's not being more difficult, it's just being unfair. There isn't any way to effectively dodge, and you can't feasibly block every attack either. Either way, it's not like the game's combat system is particularly great anyways.

Then I again, I don't play Skyrim (Or face it, any Bethesda game) for challenge - they're just too easy to break.

If you raise the difficulty, why would they enimies die FASTER?

I am currently only level 13-14, Playing on the default 'ADEPT' and I have to plan my attacks out. I die frequently if I get surrounded.

It's definitely on the easy side, but it also had several big difficulty spikes. Like alternate said, the games are easy to break, so they're tough to balance. If you want more difficulty you'll have to roleplay that way.
