Is Spec Ops: the Line worth getting?

My main reason for asking is that I know about one of the big moments in it, specifically:
The bit with the white phosphorous being used on civilians.

Is the game still worth buying if I know about that part?

And this is why spoilers are bad - people learning one and thinking it's the entire shtick of the game. It's not. Although, whether you like it or not knowing that is still up to you.

Depends on the mindset you play the game with.

I wanted to hear what the game wanted to say, but the game assumes you're playing from a point of ignorance.

It's like showing up to lecture, to hear what someone has to say, and then getting criticised by said person for showing up.

I didn't really enjoy that.

absolutely, I didn't even think that "scene" was the best part it's a great game that deserves to be played

The scene in question is just one parts of a greater whole. It's not a standalone climactic moment like No Russian, and it'll seem more in place when you get to the end of the game.

Personally, my "I'm a total bastard" moment was a few chapters later after helping Riggs.

Yes. That part hardly registered on my senses. There are other things that drew me in. Such as watching the characters spiral out of control, or the constantly evolving executions. This game is a joyride much akin to bioshock infinite and it very much keeps your player agency in mind unlike infinite.

yep it is. for me the gameplay was great for a third person shooter and the story was awesome. the game makes good points and it shows the trip to insanity pretty well. it is a great game and i suggest you get it.

I'd say yes. Sure, you know one part, but the game is a lot more than just white phosphorous. It was a unique experience, that game. Definitely in the best 3 games I played last year.

Definitely. It's one of the few games on my "must experience" list. If I were you, I would either borrow it from a friend or straight up buy it (depending on your financial situation).

Wait, are you posting in a Spec Ops thread and not actively criticizing the game for being pretentious trash? Who are you and what have you done with Daystar?

Bioshock Infinite and Spec Ops: The Line aren't even in the same order of magnitude. Comparing the former to the latter is a great disservice.

OT:

Yes. By this point it'll be dirt cheap, and the entire game is definitely worth your time.

Just remember this when playing it: when the game gives you a choice and doesn't give you a choice, it's doing it for a reason. I can't say much more without spoiling the big stuff, but if you remember that throughout your experience, it should make it a bit more understandable.

Mediocre combat, and great story. If you break the games down they are quite similar, but bioshock tells more than it shows and Spec ops shows more than it tells. The only difference is the style, budget, and the questions they ask through the story they are telling. The fact that you cannot see the similarities either mean you are not literary inclined or simply ignoring them due to some arbitrary reason.

Honestly, I don't think the game has much replay value. As good as the game is, it's pretty depressing and also unnerving, plus, the gameplay is still a generic 3rd person cover shooter. When you play it once, you're going to experience everything you can from the game. Still, I'd say it's worth it.

Yeah.

I have said many times that I do not think the game quite succeeded in what it set out to do. However, I would still say that it is worth playing for the sake of seeing just what it attempted.

I do not think knowing about that one scene will significantly detract from your experience, if at all.

I still think the game is trash :D

There's just better ways of saying it.
