Is steam down?

Hey I'm just wondering is anyone else is having the same problem. When I try to access steam it keeps saying "could not connect to steam network" then says I have no internet connection however I'm posting this off the same computer that is trying to access steam.

If anyone knows what going on can you let me know please.

Edit** It lets me start in offline mode so the application itself works.

hmm no steam main page loads fine for me.

Check and make sure it's not trying to do an update or something.

No its nothing to do with updates or bad passwords it just wont connect, I've done ping tests to see if that was an issue and thats all good so I'm stumped even restarted the computer thinking that might work.
