Yes and no.

No, in that, in fairness to Hawking, he's not in Eistein's league. That is setting the bar a bit high.

Yes, in that they are the pre-eminent scientists of their generation.

I don't even know what that's suppose to mean. I guess they are both the "face" of physics of there time, if that's what your asking.
