There were countless zombie survival threads, yet i don't remember alien invasion survival thread yet.
So,it's alien invasion. They arrive with clearly hostile intent and set out to control largest population centers. They want to conquer, not destroy, but won't hesitate to shoot people for stopping them or scaring others. They don't have too much of a wish to negotiate and settle things peacefully (unless we prove we can stand for ourselves). On the other hand, they're not too trigger-happy,and don't want to glass our planet or blow up NYC "for the lulz" either.
Technologicaly, they are on Halo/Mass Effect level - they have FTL,various energy weapons, antigravity, energy shields, and other fancy toys. But they are a bit smaller and weaker than humans,so beating them in close combat is slightly easier than at range.
So,what do you do? Try to contact them and persuade them into minimizing casualties? Wage guerrilla warfare and go commando on them? Dig in someplace safe and just live? Or simply surrender and become their servant?
EDIT: Attention people! It's a thread about what would YOU do in case of alien invasion, not about what HUMANITY in general would. For all those who said "nuke 'em",consider that most aliens are on the ground or in the atmosphere (we don't want to destroy our own ecosystem,do we?),and mothership probably has missile defenses.
To answer this question simply: "You don't want to know".
To answer this in more detail:
I'd seemingly sell out humanity if they would have me.
See, the bottom line is that these guys have better technology. I disagree about the idea of nukes ruining our ecosystem (depends on the kind of nuke, and a lot of other factors), and they might be effective, but on the other hand these guys have FTL and tech we have no equivilent to.
If we were to successfully defeat them, overtly or covertly, chances are we'd wind up losing their tech, except for wreckage we could reverse engineer. What's more conquest by an outside force will succeed at unifying humanity, and at least give us a common goal of freedom if the servitude is unpleasant, any eventual freedom will come as a species as opposed to as seperate cultures/nations/whatever. Alien invasion being a miracle (like a global disaster/meltdown/apocolypse)in of the way it could pull everyone together.
At any rate it occurs to me that from inside it's a better chance to actually learn their stuff, and master it, and of course to rebel with their own weapons.
Of course a lot of this depends on the details, since you mentioned "servitude" being an option which has a differant ring than say "slavery".

To be frank also, I'd also mention that I'd also be willing to neogiate an "uplift" agreement so to speak (for those familiar with the series). That is say to agree to agree to vassalage in exchange for technology and sponsorship. This species probably not being the only similarly advanced species out there ahead of us.
The basic idea is that in exchange for their stuff, we kick back a portion of anything we get from that point further in our own intergalactic sponsors.
This might surprise people, but I've read some examples of how such a thing could work and actually benefit everyone involved to an extent. Besides which, consider that in the end the very existance of such outside influance is "saving" humanity, by providing unity that we had (presumably) been unable th achieve ourselves before thing point, and also getting us off our homeworld to expand our population before our resources are depleted and/or our sun melts down.
