I was playin Xbox with my headset, and I heard feedback of my voice and I said to myslef (since when was my voice that high and since when did I slurr my words?", I know that my voice will sound different to me due too vibration in my eardrums when Im speaking, but Im still a little disappointed.
Did you ask this same question when you heard your true voice or whatever?

I'm usually a bit surprised at how low my voice is whenever I hear a recording. I know that my voice is on the lower side but I still think of it as a bit higher than it really is.

The sound you hear when you speak is your "head voice", you're not hearing your voice as others do - you're hearing a different version because the lower frequencies in your voice are penetrating through your head, whereas the higher frequencies are blocked by all that fleshy material. In other words, when you speak, what you hear is bass-enhanced compared to how others hear it. Therefore things like lisps, slurs, and other speech tics are far more noticeable when listening to yourself on a recording, without all that colouration that your head cavity does for you.

I sound like a nerdy 8 year old girl....what? Oh that is how everyone sounds on xbox live ;) . I usualy just dismiss the recording of my voice as it does not match the voice in my head. Plus I have never had anyone talk about my voice in a positive or negitive way so it must be average. My voice seems to be a little higher pitched than the one in my head, so it can't be my voice can it?

When I am on xbox live you can call me squeaky the high pitched psycho killer.

When my voice is recorded it sounds like I have a British accent even though I'm not British at all.

I can understand hearing a different voice in your head as it relates to pitch. But really how can you not notice you have speech impediments such as slurring? You would think that would be notable regardless of pitch like if you were studdering.

I was shocked and ashamed to realise I was a bogun when a friend studying a NIDA got me to talk for some footage. I always assumed I was kinda suave but considering where I grew up I had bucklies of sounding like anything but. It still shocked the hell out of me....made me regard my girlfriend with deep suspicion though as I started questioning why she would go out with person that sounds like a complete boof head every time they open their mouth.

I'm always surprised by how nasally my voice sounds. Sometimes it sounds as though its layered really thickly with those LOL SO RANDOM type of iflections which really upsets me.

I hate my on-camera voice. I sound so nasally and manly. It's just weird. I always think I sound kinda girly but on-camera? Blech.

I have a much deeper voice in my mind. My voice is very high-pitched for my size, almost comically so.

My voice actually sounds a lot more pleasant than I thought. Now I know why a lot of people have told me that I should get a job in radio or something similar.

On the flip side, I never knew that I sucked that much at singing. I guess life is kind of a zero sum game.

I do accents and change the pitch of my voice on chat for that reason. Honestly I have no clue what my real voice is like. It's just a mash of odd voice changes

When I went on live I heard myself speak when I replayed a message and I sounded like I was 20. So that was interesting.
