Seaman is awesome. It was a really memorable gaming experience for me. It's just totally unique, you won't find anything like it anywhere.

Oh and you can get a Dreamcast very cheap used these days, and the games can be had for free too.

It has a few fun games, like that fighting game a la SSB (forget the name, something about gems I think).

But at this point, it's probably a bit of a waste - unless you have money you want to waste.
Power Stone is still better than Brawl.

Depends on how much your going to pay for it and the games you want. Cheap, yeah sure if you can handle the outdated graphics.
Or alternatively, you could emulate it and save yourself the price tag.

It depends on what you can find for it and the cost of the system and the games. If it is $35(or your local equivalant) or more then don't bother.

The games I would look for are shenmue, Soulcalibur, powerstone(the gem party fighter someone was trying to come up with), and any of the 2k sports franchise games you can stomach if you are into them(of special note the NFL one because of the mini screen play selection). Space shannel 5(don't know if I got the name right?) is worth a laugh for the same reasons that parappa the rapper is. Do not be afraid of the origanl sonic 3d game either, it wasn't the level of schlock that you got from later SEGA blue rodent releases.

Typing of the Dead is hillarious. The first time I broke it out at a work party for a laugh and got a 60 year old office lady her first gaming experience.

Overall it is conversation peice and best when there are multiplayer games with multiple people to play them. So expect to buy it, break it out once or twice, and then suffle it off to your closet to return when someone else remembers it fondly.

No, I never knew about the Dreamcast when it was released, hell it took me like 3 years to see a game in a store.

The best game on the system, Soul Calibur, is on XBLA now anyways. I still have my original one and I actually still play it from time to time, but no I wouldn't go out and buy one.

It had like what?, 5 games worth of buying?
EDIT: wait, WHAT? PS2 and Xbox? seriously? Wasn't it psx and N64s?
You jumped a whole console gen there! o_O
No it came out after PSX and N64, and it was an upgrade in hardware from either of them. I don't know how well the hardware matched up against PS2/GameCube/Xbox though.
The PS2 has slightly better hardware as the Dreamcast.

On-Topic: Yes, there are a few great titles, and the only good 3d Sonic game, Sonic Adventure Battle.(they managed to combine multiple gametypes in one game without making any of them suck)

Draconous: Cult of the Wyrm
Wacky Races
Quake 3

Dreamcast also has Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, but if you have a PS1, I'd suggest you get it for that because the controls aren't so great.
I own a Dreamcast and I think it's great. People still make homebrew games for it I think and you can pretty much just download those and burn it to a CD and it'll play.

It's like $20 dollars at most game retailers if you buy it used. Amazon sells them new for around $50.

Ya there's a reason the Dreamcast tanked, and any good game from the Dreamcast can be bought on another console

there are quite a few games worth getting for the dreamcast:
Power Stone
Record of Lodoss War
Sonic Adventure 1 (the last decent sonic game before it sucked)
Carrier (awesome game, bit like resi evil set on an aircraft carrier)
Crazy Taxi(i know it was released on other consoles but the dreamcast 1 was the best)
Jet Set Radio

The console was revolutionary for its time, and has 3 of the greatest fighting games of all time on it (Soul Calibur, PowerStone, and Marvel vs. Capcom). Plus it has other titles that are just wonderful, like Space Channel 5, Shenmue, and one of my favorites Toy Commander. I'd say it's worth getting, especially since the console costs only $30. However, some of the rarer games for it have skyrocketed in price, so be wary of that.

I hear there were some good games on the Dreamcast but I dunno, most people seemed to hate it.
people didnt hate the dreamcast, the reason it flopped was because there was a MASSIVE demand for them and the manufacturers couldnt get them out in time.
